The ‘Queen of Rap’ Nicki Minaj has ignited a frenzy among a few public figures in the Dancehall fraternity this week by simply following them on social media. The chosen few, of course, all took the opportunity to let everyone know that the rap icon had started following them.

On Tuesday, Nicki surprised dance trio “The Dollies”—formerly of Team Spice, and who are Keticia ‘TC’ Chatman, Tashlicka ‘Prettii Prettii’ Laird, and Christina ‘Dancing Rebel’ Nelson—when she added them to her following list on Instagram. Not only did the girls share the feat on each of their IG pages but recorded a video of themselves celebrating and later racing in a 100-meter dash for the rap queen’s entertainment, after all she appears to be a track and field enthusiastjust ask Megan Tapper.

It was revealed the following day (on Wednesday) that Minaj had also started following Dancehall artist Pamputtae, who disclosed that she reached out to Nicki and thanked her for the follow even though she didn’t have a “blue tick.”

The Jamaican entertainer said the rapper surprisingly responded and told her that one of her favorite Dancehall tracks was Advertisement, a song Pamputtae voiced for Jet Life Records. She found it admirable that Nicki, who is of such eminence in the music world, would show her so much love when other of her industry compatriots don’t even want to follow her.

“@nickiminaj nuff love and blessings on u thx for acknowledge my work but mi woulda love the remix on ADVERTISEMENT REAL BAD SONG,” Pamputtae wrote on an Instagram share of the news.

Then it was on to Dancehall socialite, Queenie aka Queen Ladi Gangster. Just after the Unruly Boss Popcaan had slighted her backstage at Beenie Man’s concert in London last week, a humiliated Queenie would redeem herself on social media on Thursday when she shared the epic follow-back from the Queen of Rap.

“Nice 1 GIRL 👧POWER WOMAN ENPOWERMENT LADIES SUPPORT EACH OTHER. 👸🏽Queen Wave👋🏼👋🏼😜. No I’m not lucky I’m blessed! Yes! I get a follow back from the heavy weight champ! me! !🎶🎶🎶 @NickiMinaj Queen 2 Queen!: Checkmate♟” she wrote on a video she made basking in the splendor of it all.

Macka Diamond was added to the list on Friday and wasted no time to let her ‘Diamonds’ (fans) know that she needed to ‘big up’ Nicki Minaj for following her. The move completely motivated the Money O singer, who in turn, wanted to inspire her fans to “always remember to give thanks to a person who has shown you love.”

Nicki’s newcomers have joined other local elites such as the Queen of Dancehall Spice, whom Nicki simply adores and even named her favorite track on her debut album ’10’. There is also Dancehall fresh prince Skillibeng, whose Crocodile Teeth track Nicki remixed and included on her Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape back in May.

The Anaconda rapper is also following Dancehall acts Vybz Kartel and Stylo G who she both collaborated with on the single Touch Down in 2018.

She’s following the Gully Gad, Mavado as well, having appeared with him on the track Give It All To Me back in 2013.

Nicki also follows King Beenie Man, who she recorded a track called Gun Shot with in 2012.
