After Jamaican sprinter Megan Tapper took home the bronze medal in the women’s 100-meter hurdles on Monday at the Tokyo Olympics, she surprisingly opted to show off her rap skills with Nicki Minaj’s Moment 4 Life during a post-game interview that simply took viewers by storm.

The bubbly 27-year-old athlete couldn’t contain her excitement after becoming the first Jamaican female to win a bronze medal in the women’s 100-meter hurdles. After thanking God, her family, team, and fans for their support, she closed out the interview and busted out into a rap.

“Nicki Minaj, big up yourself,” Tapper said beaming a huge grin across her face before launching into the song.

“I fly with the stars, in the skies. I am no longer trying to survive. I believe that life is a prize / In this very moment, I’m king, in this very moment I slay Goliath with the sling…”

“And I will retire with the ring and I will retire with the crown, yes. No, I’m not lucky, I’m blessed, yes. Clap for the heavyweight champ, me. But I couldn’t do it all alone, we…” she then changed up the lyrics to thank her coaches, Mattheau (her husband) and Phillip, and to ‘big up’ her Jamaican hometown of St. Andrew.

Following Tapper’s euphoric Olympic moment, she scored another triumph when ‘the’ Nicki Minaj actually responded. The iconic rapper shared a clip of Megan’s interview  on her Twitter page and wrote, “Incredible. Wow. Ok Queen. Talent on a billion. Beauty on a trillion. ♥️😘🇯🇲🏆”.

It certainly didn’t take Megan long to catch wind of Nicki’s salute, she re-tweeted the rapper’s comment just a few hours later and wrote, “Thanks queen. Thanks for the anthem too.”

Megan followed up with another tweet to express how staggered she was for the acknowledgment, “I sat down for half an hour tryna figure what to say to the 🐏 @NICKIMINAJ 😭😭😂 Unu can wrong me😂😂.”

Nicki Minaj, who is of Trinidadian descent seems to be following the Jamaican athletes closely during the games. In the days before her exchange with Tapper, she took to Twitter following a clean sweep of the women’s 100-meter race when Elaine Thompson-Herah won the gold with a new Olympic record time of 10.61 seconds, two-time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took the silver, and Shericka Jackson won the bronze with a personal best of 10.76 seconds.

As for Tapper, the pint-sized sprinter crossed the finish line at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 12.55 seconds, just shy of her personal best (12.53), to finish behind gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (Puerto Rico), 12.37; and world record holder Kendra Harrison, 12.52.

“I was nervous, like, extremely nervous, as expected. This is an Olympic final. But I just asked God to show up for me, and that He did. I went out there, and I got a good start. I didn’t get left in the blocks, and I just kind of maintained the focus and did the best that I could in the middle of the race and ran. Did my Veronica Campbell (brown) dip to the finish line, and it got me a bronze medal, so I’m grateful,” Tapper said.

Now all her hard work has paid off and she also awaits an overflow of tributes and gifts back home. Tapper joins recently minted Olympic medalists, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson-Herah, and Shericka Jackson to be offered a full complimentary stay at the award-winning luxury-included Sandals Resort by SRI Executive Chairman Adam Stewart, according to the Observer.

Included are accommodation in the top suite at the resort of her choice for a number of nights to be determined by her, butler service, and BMW ground transfer from home if necessary.

“The World’s Best continues to deserve the World’s Best,” Stewart said when he announced the extravagant offer.
