Dancehall artiste Konshens announced this morning that he tested negative for COVID-19, after he attended Beenie Man’s heavily-scrutinized birthday party over the weekend.  Konshens made the disclosure by posting a picture of his test results to Instagram a few minutes ago.

“Ppl saw me going in an coming out suh mi jus a show dis b4 u guh hear seh…..🙄. Dem bad,” he said in the caption that accompanied an image of his negative COVID-19 test result, taken from behind the wheel of his BMW X6.

Fans and critics immediately began tearing the report apart in the comments, from expressing concern that he was out in public to poking fun at his name, and Konshens clearly had time today. He served up some good-natured clap backs and had some laughs while he was at it.

One commenter pointed out that  “That doesn’t mean you can’t walk out and catch it tomorrow,” and the Backaz artiste responded using his late brother Delus‘s lyrics: “‘What tomorrow may bring nobody dont know’. A today mi a deal wid.”

In response to a fan who laughed that the certificate was made out to Garfield Spencer (the artiste’s name is Garfield Spence), Konshens laughed and said “Me think you was mi friend.”

Tarrus Riley, with whom Konshens collaborated to produce the 2018 hit Simple Blessings, commented, “Simple.” Konshens responded; “simple things a blessinz 😂”

Konshens was among several high-profile guests at Beenie Man‘s 47th birthday party on Saturday, which has been criticized given the ongoing spike of COVID-19 cases in Jamaica. Popcaan, who also attended the party, took to Instagram yesterday to declare that he was COVID-19-free, and to encourage fans to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

At least two guests at Beenie Man’s party, including his daughter Desha and her Ravers colleague Ding Ding, were also present at Usain Bolt’s party two days earlier.

It was confirmed that Bolt tested positive for the virus yesterday.

Several attendees from Bolt’s party, including Christopher Martin, have since gone into isolation and are getting tested.

Desha, who could be seen hugging Konshens in photos from Beenie’s party, has not yet given an update on her status, but she reposted a fake “Wanted” poster that listed her, Ding Dong, Chris Martin, and Leon Bailey as outlaws for attending Bolt’s Party to her Instagram story.

As news broke about Bolt’s status, Beenie Man’s spouse and political candidate Krystal Tomlinson withdrew from the National debates that will be taking place this evening, ahead of the September 3 elections.

Tomlinson’s team said in a release that “Following reports that a member of her family has come in contact with someone who is confirmed to have contracted the COVOD-19 virus, Krystal Tomlinson has gone into self-quarantine, and is now awaiting results from tests conducted earlier today.”

In addition to Konshens, Popcaan and the Ravers dancers, Bounty Killer, KipRich, Kemar Highcon, and Mr. Lexx were also spotted at Beenie Man’s party.
