Dancehall entertainer Chronic Law is scheduled to make his first appearance in a Georgia federal court on a firearm charge, with the artiste expected to be arraigned in Albany on August 31.
The 32-year-old deejay, whose given name is Ackeme Jermane Campbell, was arrested in Miami on July 5. He faces a federal charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and was ordered detained without bond following his initial court appearance in Florida.
The charge stems from an alleged November 15, 2025 incident in Turner County, Georgia. Federal authorities claim Campbell fled after sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop him for speeding, triggering a pursuit that reportedly reached speeds of more than 120 mph.
Authorities allege that four firearms and 92 rounds of ammunition were recovered following the incident. One of the weapons was reportedly stolen in Miami.
Prosecutors further allege that Chronic Law later admitted the firearms belonged to him. They say he had not obtained the waiver required to legally possess firearms in the United States while travelling on an O-1B non-immigrant visa.
The upcoming Albany arraignment will formally move the case into the Georgia federal court system, where Campbell will be asked to enter a plea.
If convicted, Chronic Law could face up to 15 years in federal prison, as many as three years of supervised release and a fine of up to US$250,000, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia.
The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
