Shenseea is in a reflective mood and in her bag, after being confirmed for three international collaborations this summer–two with Nigerian singer Fireboy DML and American singer Chris Brown and American singer Charlie Puth and Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, and a third with Brazillian singer Anitta.

Fireboy DML x Chris Brown

Fireboy’s track Diana, which features the Jamaican singer and Chris Brown, is set for release on August 5, 2022. The song will appear on his forthcoming album, Play Boy.

The Nigerian singer is best known for Peru with Ed Sheeran, which peaked at No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart.  It’s certified Gold in the United States and Platinum in the UK. Fireball is no stranger to Jamaican entertainers. Back in 2020, roots reggae artist Chronixx publicly endorsed his debut album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps.

Charlie Puth x Calvin Harris

As for the Charlie Puth collab titled Obsessed, the Be Good singer has landed a spot on producer Calvin Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces (Vol. 2) project, which is also set for release on August 5. This comes approximately five years after Vol. 1.

Puth went to No. 1 on the US Hot 100 (and 40 other countries) in 2015, following his feature on Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again.  Since then, he’s charted on the Hot 100 as lead artist with Marvin Gaye featuring Meghan Trainor, One Call Away, We Don’t Talk Anymore featuring Selena Gomez, Attention, and Done For Me featuring Kehlani, among others.

Calvin Harris is known for producing EDM, electro house, dance-pop, and nu-disco records. His most recognized and best-selling work includes This is What We Came For (2016) and We Found Love (2011), both with Rihanna, I Need Your Love (2013) with Ellie Goulding, How Deep Is Your Love (2015) with Disciples, Slide (2017) with Frank Ocean and Migos, and One Kiss with Dua Lipa (2018).

British-Jamaican rapper/singer Stefflon Don will also appear on Harris’ new album.

Anitta

Brazilian star Anitta, who linked with Shenseea at Coachella and the Billboard Music Awards, confirmed that the Jamaican singer is one of three new collaborators on her Versions Of Me [Deluxe] project. The others are Maluma and Missy Elliot.

According to Anitta’s Instagram post today, the music videos for the three collabs will be released weekly, leading up to the deluxe album’s release sometime in August.

Shenseea is enjoying peak success after recently being nominated for “Push performance of the year” for her performance of R U That.   The single featured rapper 21 Savage and appeared on her debut album, Alpha.

In April 2022, her 2019 Blessed collab with rapper Tyga earned her a Gold certification in Canada.

In 2021, her two collaborations with rapper Kanye West earned her a Grammy nomination and her first entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  In December that year, she became the first woman to win the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Award for Best Reggae Act.

All of her new accolades have clearly left her in a grateful and reflective mood, after posting about her former job as a bottle service girl just six years ago.

“Saw a picture of myself serving bottles in a party in 2016 and I just wanna cry cuz I really came a long way man,” she tweeted.

It is an extremely busy season for Shenseea, who is currently on tour and is releasing music simultaneously.

Yesterday (July 30), she and her Dancehall compatriot Skillibeng debuted their catchy new tune, Rain, which has racked up over 134,000 views on YouTube.

According to HollywoodUnlocked, they are prepping an official music video for the track.
