Popcaan Distances Himself From Brother Jelly Bads After Leaked Video. Fans Ask What About Drake.
Popcaan has apparently distanced himself from his brother, Jelly Bads after a video of the producer performing oral sex on a female was leaked.
On Monday morning, the Family deejay took to Twitter to declare that he has severed ties with an unnamed individual who has “turned him off,” three days after the clip was circulated.
“Yeman a anybody get Bunoff from them tun off killy!!! Friends, family enemy ETC!! Unruly can’t be stopped!! Memba that!!!” he tweeted, seemingly confirming that he had unfollowed the producer on Instagram and that not even family members are exempt. He added the #GreatIsHe hashtag, in reference to his upcoming album.
Jelly has not addressed the leak, but followers on Instagram have been harassing the producer over the situation. His first producer credit was Popcaan’s hit song My Type, released in 2018. Under his imprint Jelly Records, he’s also credited for other Popcaan songs including Feel Right, Billions with Quada, and One Thing Alone off the Vanquish album. He also co-produced Bakersteez’s Relay and Blessings with Popcaan, as well as Projexx’s 9:59. Like Unruly Cuz and Petro (two other estranged Popcaan associates), Jelly was mentioned in intros and during toasting in a few Popcaan songs, including Chill, Elevate, and recently El Gringo.
Popcaan’s initial reaction to the leak, like his response to Shenseea’s Lick earlier this year, is not surprising. Dancehall music in the 90s—from Shabba Ranks’ Dem Bow to Mr. Vegas’ Heads High and beyond—was notorious for holding a standard against all oral sex. In recent years, attitudes towards the practice have relaxed, but only for men who are on the receiving end.
However, many of Unruly Boss’ followers are scrutinizing him for apparently throwing his brother out in the cold, while maintaining ties with international artists such as Canadian rapper Drake, who has both lyrically and publicly indicated that he’s not opposed to pleasing women orally.
“So what about Drake?” several Twitter users asked.

Twitter user Rolando Foster referenced a lyric from Megan Thee Stallion on her Intercourse collaboration with Popcaan, where she alluded to the act. “This was Megan to u btw,” he tweeted.

Popcaan’s sister, Annalecia “Unruly Squid” Sutherland is also standing in solidarity with Jelly Bads, who has just reactivated his Instagram account since the video leak three days ago. On Sunday night, she posted a photo of him to her Instagram story, stating clearly that she isn’t going anywhere, despite the circumstances.
“To the end like chucky! ❤️,” she wrote.
She had also made a birthday post in March, sending love to her baby brother. “I love you soo much kid @jellybads happiest birthday bro 💋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” she captioned a photo of him.
