Vybz Kartel’s longtime partner and common-law wife, Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson of Short Boss Muzik, has launched her own line of skin lightening products.

As if picking up from Kartel’s ‘Cake Soap’ and ‘Vybz’ brand of skin cosmetics products, which launched back in 2011, Shorty now offers her very own ‘Boss Lady Skin Lightening’ line that features three products for the face, body, and knuckles.

According to the specs on the Boss Lady line, the specialized ingredients contained in each of the three skin lightening formulas will “remove dark spots, even out skin tone and rejuvenate skin for flawless complexion.”

The products are already available for sale through the entrepreneur’s Instagram page, ranging from JA$2000 to $11,000 or US$25 to $110 depending on the size consumers choose.

This is certainly not the first rodeo for the Short Boss Muzik CEO and music manager. Johnson also has her leg in a few other business ventures including a courier service, Athena Couriers, and a reality series called The Palmers, which she revealed last year had already begun production and filming.

Ten years ago when Vybz Kartel launched his skin bleaching ‘Cake Soap’, a version of the Blue Bommer soap, the sales were through the roof. This was hugely accredited to his hit single Cake Soap that was released in October 2010. The Fever deejay then rolled out a whole new line of luxury products dubbed “Vybz Skin Care Products” that even included fragrances. Among them were Vybz Skin Brightener, Vybz Body Brightener, Vybz Anti-Aging Moisturizer, Vybz Astringent, Vybz Soap, and OH! by Vybz Kartel men’s cologne and women’s perfume.

While there were hopes to also open an exclusive store and distribution hub to sell to other retailers, those plans were halted due to Kartel’s legal troubles and subsequent arrest in 2011.

According to Statista, the global skin lightening market was worth 4.8 billion, with a B, dollars in 2017.  The industry is forecasted to reach some 8.9 billion U.S. dollars by 2027.  Johnson’s new skin-lightening line could very well grab a piece of that action, especially with the backing of her children’s father.

Kartel and Shorty share three children; their firstborn Jaheim Palmer, aka Likkle Vybz, Akheel Raheim Palmer aka Likkle Addi, and Aiko Palmer, who is known as World Boss Jr.

Likkle Addi, who is one part of the duo UTG with his brother Likkle Vybz, showed off a new photo of his dad on social media yesterday.

The image is a side profile of the incarcerated Worl’ Boss musing with a hand to his mouth while wearing a baseball cap. The photo came with a preview of a new single, Menace from his upcoming album, Born Fi Dis.

Shorty made the album announcement and revealed that the album would feature 12 tracks including the previously released Airforce 1, Love Ya Babymom, and No Cap, which were all produced by her Short Boss Muzik imprint and the Vybz Kartel Muzik Imprint.

Pre-orders opened on July 30, while the release date is set for August 6 on all streaming platforms.
