Dancehall star Shenseea stepped out of her social media hiatus and back into the studio based on her Instagram Stories yesterday. The singjay has kept fans worried and waiting for nearly a month, with no appearances or updates especially as she readies her debut album. Her hiatus coincided with fake news that she was pregnant for rap star Drake, as well as the one year anniversary of her mother’s passing, a sudden and devastating blow the Blessed singer still grapples with.

Following her post commemorating the sad event, she apologized to her 4.1M ShenYengs. “Sorry I disappeared, Won’t do it again”, she wrote on Instagram, inviting a slew of supportive comments but some weren’t so subtle in their remarks. “So you really come back without the music @shenseea?” asked one fan.

Soon afterward, she shared a series of IG Story posts including a late-night studio session with American hitmaker London on da Track.

The American record producer, rapper, and songwriter is responsible for some of the last decade’s most infectious hits, including Die Young by Roddy Rich, No Stylist by French Montana and Drake, Lifestyle by Rich Gang feat. Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, My Type by Saweetie, and Positions by Ariana Grande.

The 30-year-old, who might be most recognized for his signature intro tags — “We got London on da Track h-e” and “I’m in London got my beat from London” — seems to be cooking up a fire track for the Dancehall starlet, who was still in creative mode at 4:00 am.

The studio session was reposted by Shenseea’s overseas A&R Donny “Dizzy Clean Face” Flores as well as music manager, and record executive Wassim ‘Sal’ Slaiby (@salxo) who’s supported the commercial success of Doja Cat, French Montana, The Weeknd, London on da Track, Bebe Rexha, Ty Dolla $ign, Swedish House Mafia and more.

Since relocating in Florida, Shenseea has been spotted in the company of a few of the aforementioned artists all managed by the same man Variety Magazine named 2020’s Manager of the Year. Last year, XO co-founder and signee The Weeknd’s album After Hours earned the year’s biggest debut week on Billboard and his record-breaking, 7x platinum single Blinding Lights was the world’s best performing single of the year across all digital platforms.

Though she’d initially hoped for a March release date for her ShenYengs, the time spent aligning with key players overseas could prove to be the difference between a lukewarm reception or a scorching debut for the Trending Gyal.
