Dancehall star Shenseea is honoring her late mother, Castilyn Eleanor Williams.

Marking the one-year anniversary of her death on Friday, Shenseea, 24, posted a throwback photo of herself and Williams.

“Wish we had more time 💔,” she wrote in the caption of what was the Blessed singer’s first Instagram post in over three weeks.

Castilyn died suddenly last year, reportedly after a mild stroke and heart attack.

Shenseea confirmed the news in a heartbreaking post on the same day that received an outpouring of support from tens of thousands of fans.

However, just days later, the singer was forced to address highly distasteful rumors that accused her of sacrificing her mother’s life to ‘achieve success in her Dancehall career’. Confronting the audaciousness of the claims, Shenseea called the comments ‘sick’ and added that as much as she gets hate on social media, nothing has compared to the level of negative energy she felt at that time.

Williams was laid to rest after a private ceremony on July 8, 2020, where Shenseea delivered a eulogy and described her mother as a humanitarian that would always lend a helping hand to even people she didn’t know.

“My mom’s death really changed me,” she explained during an Instagram Q&A earlier this year, when she was asked why she had not been “as interactive” with fans on the platform over the last year.

“Less talkative, more reserved. I hope it won’t be like this forever but at the moment I can’t help it,” she continued. “Time is master and I assure you it has[n’t] changed my love for y’all; it has grown seeing the support and comfort you give in my hardest of times.”

Responding to another question about grief, she said: “Everyone grieves differently. For me, I rather do everything that’ll help to take my mind off my loss and be surrounded by people who won’t constantly make me remember tragedy.”

On Shenseea’s anniversary post today, Stefflon Don wrote: “Mama is beyond proud trust me. keep reaching for the stars!!!!❤️🙏🏾.”

The post also saw responses from Lil Tjay, Jada Kingdom, Ding Dong, Dovey Magnum, Tarrus Riley and many more.
