Barbadian singer and fashionista Rihanna was thrilled to show off her latest snaps for Vogue Italy on Twitter and Instagram yesterday but many fans weren’t all that impressed.  They, instead, badgered her to release what she said would be her Reggae-inspired album, which has been unofficially dubbed R9 since it would be her ninth studio project.

Gracing the cover of the magazine’s Do It Yourself (DIY) issue, Riri shared photos rocking an uber pixie-cut hairstyle with green tints while wearing a selection of outfits.

Among them were:

A sexy see-through red rose embroidered number;

Another sheer little black dress;

An oversized multilayered winter ensemble;

And for the Vogue cover a black chiffon backless flowy dress paired with thigh-high strappy stilettoes that leaves very little to the imagination.

Although the Umbrella singer got her usual fan-crazed responses in the comments, Rihanna also received a string of queries wanting to know why hasn’t she dropped R9 yet.

“riri ily but PLEASE release new music, even if its just you barking into a microphone. we’re STARVING,” wrote Twitter user Pardour.

“Always a magazine cover, never an album or single cover…,” added MyNameIs_DRE.

“It’s been 5 years since We had a Rihanna album,” scolded AJLaJoya.

Rihanna listed herself on the credits for ‘Photography and Styling’ on the Vogue shoot and herself again along with a Jahleel Weaver for ‘Project Direction’ and thanked her Savage Fenty and Fenty Beauty collaborators.

However, the fans were also not interested but rather played-on the captions she wrote on the photos to probe her for R9 answers.

For one she captioned “lil pressure,” one follower responded, “Don’t you feel the pressure to release the damn album, Mrs Fenty?”

The Work singer in the days prior also shared a few thirst trap photos, showing off some sexy lingerie pieces but again got similar feedback from many fans.

On one of the shots donning a Savage Fenty, purple two-piece, which she captioned “it’s a good day to be savage,” it simply triggered a slew of interrogations.

Rihanna has been promising her fans a new album from as far back as 2018, so that explains why many have become a little bothered. She confirmed in two separate interviews with Vogue Magazine prior that her next studio album would be a “Reggae-inspired” album.

“I like to look at it as a Reggae-inspired or Reggae-infused album,” she explained. “It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as Reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks,” she said.

As a Caribbean girl, she said “Reggae always feels right to me. It’s in my blood. It doesn’t matter how far or long removed I am from that culture, or my environment that I grew up in; it never leaves.”

Last month, The Sun reported that Rihanna was prepping for her musical comeback after a five-year hiatus by shooting a music video in LA for a track off the upcoming collection.

“Rihanna has been secretly working on new music for a long time and her ninth album has finally come together. She has kept fans waiting for a long time — and the pandemic slowed things up even more,” a source said.

“The project is still tightly under wraps but Rihanna will be filming a new music video in Los Angeles in July.”

According to the newspaper, British director Raja Virdi, who has worked with Sam Smith and Freya Ridings, will be skippering the new video.

“Raja has been brought on board by Rihanna and her team, and he will be flying out to oversee everything. Rihanna met him during a project she did with Westminster University fashion students in January last year and she wanted him to be the brains behind the video.”

“All the details about the shoot and the new music are being closely guarded — but she never disappoints,” the source added.

Rihanna’s last album was the triple-platinum-selling, Anti, which was released in 2016.
