Over the weekend, there was widespread speculation that Dancehall star TeeJay left the Romeich Entertainment camp and has retained the services of Solid Agency as his official booking agent.

DancehallMag contacted Sharon Burke, President of Solid Agency Management, Bookings and Event Management, to check out the validity of the rumors but the elusive music manager and booking agent refused to confirm or deny the speculation that she now handles the Uptop Boss TeeJay.

In her refusal to say anything ‘solid’ regarding the speculation she responded, “Why you don’t call Teejay? Teejay is the artiste.”

Pressed further whether she had an official booking contract with Teejay, she answered coyly: “That’s my internal business whether I have a contract or not. Why you don’t call Teejay?”

Then the wily Ms. Burke offered to call back but never did. Subsequent calls to her mobile number went unanswered.

Neither the Uptop Boss TeeJay nor Romeich Entertainment responded to requests for further clarification.

TeeJay joined Romeich Major’s Romeich Entertainment family, which includes Dancehall artists Shenseea and Ding Dong, in 2018 after a much-lauded performance at Reggae Sumfest that year.

“Teejay, being from a different section of the island and being a different style of artiste from Ding Dong or Shenseea, it adds more flexibility to the team, and they fully endorse that,” Major told the Jamaica Star at the time.

TeeJay told the STAR that the decision to join the Romeich Entertainment team aligned with his goals.  “I will be in good company having Shenseea and Ding Dong as labelmates and the hardest-working man in music, Romeich, at the helm of it all. It is a win-win situation,” the Owna Lane singer said.

Major only recently praised TeeJay’s talent on Yendi Phillips’ YouTube show Odyssey with Yendi.

“Teejay ah di baddest singer. Him have a vocal point deh, ah don’t think him even know di power ah him voice,” Major said in early April. “Until him know dat him gwaan do weh him ah do but ah di baddest singer Jamaica have right now. Wah him can do wid him vocals, we ah go try see if we can show di world dah year yah.”

Meanwhile, Burke’s Solid Agency Instagram page recently reposted TeeJay’s link up with American producer and VERZUZ co-founder, Timbaland.  Burke was hailed by several entertainers as the MVP behind the scenes, who orchestrated the stellar production of Beenie Man and Bounty Killer’s wildly successful Verzuz clash, which Timbaland founded with Swizz Beatz.

#Teejay x #Timbaland 👊🏾🇯🇲 🇺🇸 #SolidWorks,” the agency wrote in the caption.

Burke, who formed the artist management, bookings, and event management company in 1992, has also been the genie behind some of the most significant Dancehall events ever produced in Jamaica.

These include Buju Banton’s Long Walk to Freedom, Reggae Sunsplash 1995, Saddle to the East, Fully Loaded, Re-Loaded, and Overloaded. She was also involved with the Shaggy & Friends Charity Concert in 2009 and Bounty Killer’s It’s a Party.
