Dancehall artist TeeJay is already seeing rewards from his consistent efforts, and was recently seen vibing in the company of American super-producer Timbaland.

The Romeich Ent. deejay seems to be making major moves after he uploaded a short clip of himself and the Verzuz founder yesterday. Teejay wrote in the caption, “Guess who loves rags to riches tag him if you know this legend. it was such an honor to be in this room.”

At least two of his Dancehall cohorts showed support in the comments; labelmate Ding Dong Ravers who wrote “big look” with many fire emojis, and Jamaican Grammy-winning beatmaker Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor who responded, “The G.O.A.T himself.”

The Owna Lane deejay has been overseas in recent weeks, promising fans new music, teasing an upcoming album, and at one point, linking up with Go Down Deh hitmaker Spice.

The contemplative track From Rags to Riches was produced by Damage Musiq and became an immediate fan favorite after its September 2020 release. YouTube views on the official video and lyric video are nearing the 20M and 10M marks, and fans are speculating whether we’ll soon hear a scorching Timbaland remix of the successful single.

The innovative rhythm master’s 30-year career has eked out some of the biggest bangers of all time, a point that’s clearly not lost on the 26-year-old Mobay deejay. Tracks that feature the Timbaland treatment include Missy Elliot’s Get Your Freak On and Supa Dupa Fly (which influenced Beenie Man’s 1998 smash hit Who Am I (Sim Simma)), Jay Z’s Big Pimpin’ and Ginuwine’s iconic, intoxicating debut, Pony.

In the IG video clip, Teejay nods and raps along to the lyrics while Timbaland, preoccupied with his phone, listens as the candid flows unfold. The Grammy-winning exec’s keen ear and versatility have crafted chart-toppers for the world’s best, from Drake to Shakira, and fans are hopeful Teejay’s ode to resilience is next in line.

While we wait to confirm whether an international collab is in the works, we at least know that TeeJay’s team is 100% confident in his abilities.

Manager Romeich Major recently lauded the youngster’s undeniable talent on Yendi Phillips’ YouTube show Odyssey with Yendi.

“Teejay ah di baddest singer. Him have a vocal point deh, ah don’t think him even know di power ah him voice,” said the producer and serial entrepreneur. “Until him know dat him gwaan do weh him ah do but ah di baddest singer Jamaica have right now. Wah him can do wid him vocals, we ah go try see if we can show di world dah year yah.”
