Canadian rapper Drake has come out with guns blazing following the release of Popcaan’s mixtape ‘FIXTAPE,’ which dropped at midnight on August 7.

The project has 19 tracks and collaborations with some well known international heavyweights like the OVO boss, French Montana, Preme, and PartyNextDoor. Some top Jamaican acts on the album include Jada Kingdom, Stylo G, Dane Ray, Masicka, Tommy Lee Sparta, and Frahcess One.

Popcaan took to Instagram Live last night to celebrate the launch of the project with a listening party, and it seems Drake has indicated that he’s ready to get his hands dirty when he came out swinging in the comments section of the Live.

Showing improved use of Jamaican patios, he said, “Some bwoy love chat about yaad man and some next f@#ckery and all now dem can’t catch up to the 876 Gad go hold a one seat and a box juice and hus ya mout OVO Unruly.”

He made the comment about an hour before FIXTAPE dropped.

drakecommentsThe comments were likely directed at Mavado, who called had callout Drake for his appropriation of Dancehall culture in a diss track called Enemy Line on July 30.  In one verse of the track, Mavado sings that Drake will “die trying” in his attempts to be “a yaad man.”

Drake later joined Popcaan’s LIVE, where he congratulated the ‘876 Gad’ on the new project which includes two features from the rapper, All I Need and Twist & Turn.

“Yo, brother, congratulations. That tape there bad. They can’t stop you, brother. Know that,” the Yes Indeed singer said to cheers and shouts of “TROUBLE” from Popcaan and his crew who were celebrating.

Enemy Line was released in response to Drake’s Only You Freestyle, with British rapper Headie One, which took a subliminal shot at the Gully Gad.

The freestyle, released on July 21, referenced burnt bridges and Mavado’s home community, which fans speculated are hints at the former friends’ failed venture to construct a learning center in Kingston, which would have been named the Drake and Mavado Peace Center.

With the camps now aimed at each other, there’s little doubt that Mavado and MVP will soon release tracks aimed at the Unruly and OVO camps, and the fire will be returned in kind.
