Veteran deejay Bling Dawg has not only been ensuring he maintains a healthy weight and a robust body structure but is about to release what is to be his first studio album.

His now-muscular frame, which he has maintained over the past three years and his workout routine in the gym have not gone unnoticed by some of the women in the music business and female fans.

A few days ago, an obviously wowed disc jockey and music producer ZJ Sparks, highlighted a video clip with the artiste breaking a sweat as he lifted some huge weights, under the supervision of his fitness trainer.

“One ting mi sure bout, if @blingdawgofficial vehicle bruk dung wid him a road, him can lift it up fling pan him shoulder and walk wid it guh a di mechanic cause wrecker nah mek nuh money offa him,” she joked.

Other fans commended the artiste for being committed to ensuring that he improved his body, losing more than 140 of the 350 pounds he once weighed.

“A Bling Dawg body so good. Wow,” shilandastewart said, while gaadomusic opined: “A wonder if ppl know weh bling weight a forward from to this.   He is di definition of devoted & determination trust me.”

Bling Dawg had started his fitness journey seven years ago after his weight made it increasingly difficult for him to perform on stage without running out of breath.

Under the encouragement of veteran saxophonist, Dean Frazer, he began undertaking some physical activities, and continued until he reached his optimal level of fitness.

Bling had told The Gleaner newspaper a few years ago, that he had since become a vegan, as it was a critical part of his weight-loss journey.

Speaking on Television Jamaica’s entertainment programme, Intense, the St. Thomas native said his upcoming one-drop album, is concomitant with his new holistic lifestyle.   However, he did not give an exact release date for the production.

So far, he has released a new track called God is Amazing on July 10, a song he says has been getting an overwhelming response from his musical compatriots.

He said Damian’ Junior Gong’ Marley produced two of the tracks on the album, which also features the likes of the Unruly Boss Popcaan, Tanya Stephens, Busy Signal, Bounty Killer, Morgan Heritage, Christopher Martin, and Romain Virgo.

“Why I chose these artistes, these artistes are embedded in that culture of one drop.   It (one drop) is more technical… It is overwhelming to get them on it because even my manager was asking me how I get all these artistes on one album,” he said.

“This song  (God is Amazing) was never recorded on the album because the album was already mixed and mastered already and I voiced this song about three weeks ago.  And because I said I don’t put out a song in almost three and a half years or so, you a guh put out a single just to be relevant,” the 38-year-old added.

Bling Dawg is known for songs such as Kiss My Baby Good Morning, Phone Call, which featured the Worl’ Boss, Vybz Kartel, Shotta Ting, Floss Like We Do, and Tweeta as well as Kreech and Aji Bounce.

Formerly known as Ricky Rudy, Bling Dawg was a part of the Bounty Killer-founded dancehall collective known as The Alliance, which also included artistes such as Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall and Aidonia.
