Popcaan Drops Video For ‘Promise’ With Beautiful Shots Of Ghana: Watch
Superstar dancehall artriste Popcaan has released the official video for his song Promise on YouTube and it has some stunning shots of Ghana. The artiste recently toured the African nation where he was greeted with nothing but love from fans even though there was one controversy with him smoking weed in public.
The song, which appears on his Vanquish mixtape, features his signature style of Dancehall and he is seen wearing a traditional Ghanaian shirt, which was probably made from Kente cloth. It seems to follow the struggles of a couple and Popcaan keeps reassuring her that he will always be there.
Promise is a change of pace for Popcaan and doesn’t feature his usually gritty lyrics but reveals his feelings on love. He sings:” If you fall, I’m ready. I’m here for you. I’m here, promise.”
The video opens with a shot of the Cape Coast Castle which Popcaan visited to get a first person look at the slave trade site where countless Africans were tortured and enslaved. There are several iconic shots of Ghana which depict the beauty of the country and the amount of love he received, even from the police.
The song is also timely since it’s been rumored for the last few months that he and his Trinidadian girlfriend Kavell Keir have broken up.
However, even in matters of love, Popcaan maintains some of his grit and some of the lyrics describe a pretty steamy encounter between himself and whoever the song is about.
In keeping with his street style, there is also a club scene in the video that features exotic looking women, thugs and lots of marijuana smoking.
The video was posted about six hours ago and fans have immediately taken to it. It’s already got over 88 000 views and more than 600 comments, most of them in support of the Unruly Boss’ softer side. He’s also seemed to raise awareness of what the African nation looks like as many fans commented on the beauty as well.
It seems fans are still appreciative of his unique Dancehall style. “All who seh buy land in Africa 👍🏽,” one fan said noting Popcaan’s purchase of a home in Ghana. While another added: “One unruly 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿 Big up Ghana 🇬🇭.” One fan gave him the Dancehall crown: “Unrulyboss da baddest dancehall artist of all time… big up Unruly 4 life 🔥🔥🔥🔥🇬🇲💯.”
