Popcaan’s ‘Vanquish’ Mixtape Out Now On Drake’s OVO Sound
Just one day ahead of his highly anticipated event, Unruly Fest Jamaican dancehall icon, Popcaan has treated his fans to a ‘Sherly Christmas’ with his new mixtape titled Vanquish which was released today, Friday, December 19.
In a press statement, Popcaan said, “This project is a Christmas present for all my fans, especially the ones who will be turning out and supporting me at the ‘Unruly Fest’ the day after the release.” He added, “Next year will come the real album, but for now let’s enjoy Vanquish together.”
Vanquish is the first full length project that Popcaan has released under OVO Sound, which is Drake’s record label. The American rapper announced last night on Instagram that the new mixtape on OVO Sound would finally be released. “New mixtape from my brother @popcaanmusic his first project on OVO SOUND maddddd,” he captioned the cover art for the project in his post.
Popcaan signed with OVO Sound in early 2019 and has continued to represent proudly for dancehall music on an international scale. Fans certainly remember his mindblowing album which he released in 2018 – Forever, which brought songs like Silence and Firm and Strong to the airwaves.
The Vanquish mixtape is said to be just as epic and is a prequel to his upcoming 2020 album. Vanquish features 10 tracks, including Numbers Don’t Lie, Jah is For Me, Promise and One Ting Alone. Promise is the lead single on the release. “I wanted ‘Promise’ to give motivation to girls that have been through or are going through bad situations and relationships,” Popcaan explained. “A reminder that ‘If you fall already, I’m here for you, promise.'”

Popcaan teased the tracklist of the mixtape on his Instagram page for all his fans to see, yesterday. He included the caption, We going way up tomorrow and Saturday @unrulyfest #vanquish #unrulyent.” Keeping fans pumped for the event.

Popcaan’s fans were definitely excited about this new project as one person commented under the post saying, “😎 Kick Out 🤘🏼 been waiting for this 😁.” And another said, “CLASSIC MIXTAPE FI DI SOUL DEM‼️‼️”
The release of Vanquish was definitely the perfect way to start the weekend for Popcaan, whose Unruly Fest event kicks off tomorrow at the Goodyear Oval in Morant Bay, St Thomas, the parish where he grew up. This will surely be a time to remember as the concert has a star lineup, featuring Jamaican entertainers such as Richie Spice, Chronic Law, Sizzla, and Capelton, with international acts, Drake and Davido. Drake had performed at 2018’s staging of the concert.
Not only that, but Jamaican beauty queen, Toni-Ann Singh, who is also Miss World 2019, will be making an appearance at Unruly Fest, as she too was born in St. Thomas. Popcaan even showed love to her through his social media. It is bound to be a night to remember!
