The Dallas rapper posted his own mugshot to Instagram on Sunday, August 23, captioning it “THAT SH*T LITE [face palm emoji] ALBUM OTW,” which is either the most unbothered response imaginable or a calculated move to keep his name circulating ahead of new music.
X was booked into Collin County Jail on Friday, August 21, after the Allen Police Department pulled him over and allegedly found him driving while intoxicated, in possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, and carrying a firearm unlawfully. Three separate charges from a single traffic stop is a bad night by any measure.
The timing made things worse on the professional side. That same Friday, X was scheduled to perform at the Country Rising Festival in Canada, and organizers had to announce his absence on Instagram, citing a “personal emergency.”
Fans who showed up expecting him got nothing, and the vague explanation from the festival left a lot of people filling in the blanks themselves once news of the arrest broke.
What makes this story harder to brush off is the pattern behind it. This arrest came almost exactly one year after X was arrested in Dallas in August 2024, when police reportedly found a firearm and marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Before that, he was arrested again in Texas in February 2025 after being pulled over for expired tags, with officers smelling weed from the car and finding both marijuana and a gun during the search.
His passenger during that stop, Cleodist Landum, who appears to be a relative of the rapper, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant out of Bexar County covering weed charges and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Three arrests in roughly a year, all in Texas, all involving similar circumstances, is a thread that is hard to ignore. Whether his fanbase reads it as a legal liability or just part of the lifestyle he raps about depends a lot on who you ask, and reactions online have been split pretty cleanly between concern and indifference.
X was seemingly released over the weekend, given that he was active on Instagram by Sunday. The “album OTW” tease in his caption has people speculating that he is planning to use the moment as a launchpad rather than a setback, which would fit the way a lot of artists have handled legal trouble in recent years.
His legal team has not made any public statement, and no court dates have been confirmed publicly as of now.
The rapper has not addressed the specifics of the charges beyond that single Instagram post, which is doing a lot of heavy lifting as his only public response so far.
