One night after an opener where the two headliners never appeared together, Chris Brown and Usher finally stood side by side in Atlanta.

The pair performed “Back to Sleep” at their November 6 show, according to a November 7 report from TMZ.

That moment landed because it didn’t happen on night one. Reviewing the November 5 concert for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, DeAsia Paige reported that Brown and Usher never shared the stage, even though joint performances had featured at other stops on the tour.

The gap fed a story that was already spreading. TMZ cited unnamed sources who said the singers argued backstage before the Mercedes-Benz Stadium show, with Usher reportedly wanting to start while Brown preferred waiting for fans stuck in traffic.

Brown pushed back, sort of. In an Instagram Story reported by Complex, he posted “Internet” with a cap emoji, slang for lying, and added “Don’t fall for it,” though he never named Usher or said exactly what he meant.

Whatever happened backstage, the crowd felt it. The stadium advertised a 7:30 p.m. start, but the headliners didn’t appear until around 10 p.m., and Usher’s representatives told Paige the planned performance time had been 8:30 p.m.

By 9 p.m., DJ Fresh, Brown’s touring hype man, had been holding the crowd for nearly two hours. At 9:45 p.m., stadium cameras caught a fan holding up a phone that read “Start the show.”

Some attendees complained about sound quality and said the sets felt rushed, according to theGrio. When Paige asked Usher’s team about the delay during the concert, a representative said they didn’t know the cause, and neither camp answered her questions afterward.

The music itself still had plenty going on. Usher ran through “Yeah!,” “U Don’t Have to Call” and “Love in This Club,” then brought out T.I. and Young Dro for a guest segment Paige estimated at nearly half an hour.

Brown went for spectacle with “Yo,” “Ain’t No Way” and “Say Goodbye,” plus aerial effects during “Forever.” Missing were “New Flame” and “Party,” the songs the pair have actually recorded together.

The money on the line is enormous. The tour, named after the singers’ surnames, Raymond and Brown, as well as their genre, launched in Denver in June, and the AJC reported more than two million tickets sold and over 400 million dollars in gross revenue.

Billboard’s September Boxscore put the gross at 77.4 million dollars across 10 shows, making it the first coheadlining tour to top the monthly Top Tours chart.

Atlanta grew from two dates to five, a record single engagement at Mercedes-Benz Stadium that edged past Beyoncé’s four Cowboy Carter shows in 2025.

Three nights remain, on November 8, 10 and 11. After “Back to Sleep,” fans will be watching to see if the duo keeps showing up together, and if the lights go down on time.
