Just days after Lucas Oil Stadium ran a social media contest giving away two free tickets to the R&B Tour, the venue was posting a cancellation notice instead.
The Indianapolis show is one of four stops Usher and Chris Brown have pulled from their stadium run, and the timing lines up closely with a court date waiting for Brown in the UK.
On Friday (October 9), ticket buyers learned that four October shows were off. The list covers the October 17 Baltimore concert at M&T Bank Stadium, the October 24 Cincinnati stop at Paycor Stadium, the October 29 show at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, and the October 31 date at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Cincinnati fans got the news by email, while Lucas Oil shared the promoter’s explanation publicly. The official reason has nothing to do with a courtroom.
Following an extensive run of sold-out stadium shows on one of the year’s biggest tours, the event promoter has made the difficult decision to cancel select upcoming dates on the R&B Tour to prioritize the health and well-being of the touring party and crew,” the statement read.
It went on to say the changes would let the tour “continue safely and sustainably through the remaining scheduled performances.”

That’s a reasonable case on its face. Stadium tours are punishing for performers and crews alike, and this one has been packing some of the biggest venues in the country.
The calendar tells a second story, though. In July, the two-time Grammy winner pleaded guilty to affray over his role in a 2023 nightclub attack in the UK. The charge carries up to three years in prison, and under his bail conditions Brown has to be back in court in the UK by October 25.
Look at the gaps and the overlap is hard to miss. The cancelled run stretches from October 17 to October 31, which wraps neatly around that deadline, and the promoter’s statement makes no mention of Brown’s legal situation at all.

For fans, the reaction probably depends on which city they live in. Ticket holders in Baltimore, Cincinnati, Columbia and Indianapolis are left with refunds and no show, while everyone else still has dates on the books.
Brown and Usher have plenty of road left, at least on paper. They play a second night in Houston on October 10, then hit MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on October 15.
After that comes the break, with the tour set to pick back up on November 5 for a five-night stretch at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Those Atlanta dates are now the next big marker, and what happens in a UK courtroom before then could shape how the rest of this tour plays out.
