Bounty Killer has come out mocking Beenie Man, after the Old Dog artist asserted once again, that that he was the one who “brought Vybz Kartel to the forefront” when the Gaza Empire boss’ career was, according to him, spiraling downwards.

During a recent interview on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, Beenie had told host Jaii Frais, that he remains dismayed that he has still not received the accolades due to him, after all the support he gave to Kartel, including ‘his first Billboard hit.’

“A me sing Picture This, and produce it too.  A me put him a Billboard; a me put him right which part him deh.  A me tell him seh: ‘yuh caan meck Wayne Marshall dem sing di while a yuh punch line; learn fi sing!’ An put him right there.  Which part di respect deh fi dat?” he told Jaii Frais.

When the host asked whether he wanted ‘his flowers’, Beenie replied: “Mi nuh want no flowers, is a whole bush me want.”

But Bounty Killer, after getting wind of Beenie’s comments on Instagram, immediately pounced, declaring that it was not Beenie, who gave Kartel the strength, but it was the other way around.

“Beenie believes his own lies over years what that song did for Kartel career though?   It’s Kartel hyped up Beenie at that time when Alliance was lasting him and everyone 06-07, that’s why him did wanted to sign Kartel and Addi jump ship left him😂😅😂🥲,” Bounty jeered.

In December 2021, Beenie had declared that he remains the only King in Dancehall, and that the title belongs to him only, because, among other things, he was the first person to present Vybz Kartel — one of the other contenders to the honorific name — to the world stage via the Billboard chart.

“I am there from Shabba Rankin, Ninja Man, Kartel. I was the one that release Vybz Kartel really.  Memba me gi him him first numba one song; me put him pon Billboard di first time…,” Beenie had said during an interview on Ghana’s Hitz 103.9FM.

Beenie and Kartel teamed up on The Specialist, a song released in November 2004 on the Scoobay Riddim, which is sometimes as Picture Dis or Breast Specialist.

However, no Billboard entry for The Specialist could be found by DancehallMag. Instead, there is a Billboard entry for Picture This (You & Me), a solo single by Kartel, which was produced by Daniel ‘Blaxxx’ Lewis and Andrew ‘Buccaneer’ Bradford on the Black Out Riddim. That song had peaked at No. 21 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in October 2004.

Vybz Kartel’s other Billboard charting singles during the 2003-2005 era were Tekk and Sweet To The Belly in 2004.

In a 2020 interview with YouTuber Teach Dem, Beenie had pointed out that after the infamous 2003 Sting event, when Vybz Kartel and his followers fought Ninjaman on stage, the entire nation had shunned the Fever artist.

Additionally, he said that he, in sympathizing with the deejay, took him under his wing, began taking him on stages to close shows across Jamaica such as Jamboree and Island Explosion, where he and Kartel outshone  Bounty Killer and his Alliance members countless times.

According to Beenie, the longstanding feud between himself and Kartel started when the Any Weather artist had reached a point of success where he no longer needed his support, and became stand-offish as a result.   He also said that Kartel’s attitude and an ensuing counteraction to a song, also drove a wedge between their friendship.

He said he parted ways with Kartel after the Worl’ Boss counteracted his Gaza Mi Say track, in which Beenie, among other things, declared himself Emperor for di Gaza.   Kartel’s response had come via Gaza Commandments, which Beenie took as a diss.

Beenie said that the experience with Kartel had left him disillusioned and was among the reasons he does not “buss artists”, even though it does not stop him from helping others.

Beenie had said though, that in spite of Kartel’s disloyalty, that there was no residual animosity between them and that he had spoken to the artist about two times since his incarceration, up to that time.

“Dem man deh nuh have nuh loyalty to nobody. Me an Addi nuh chat.  Me an him mussi talk two time from him deh a prison. Me an him nuh talk again afta dat…. Dem man deh nuh honour nobody bredrin,” Beenie had said.
