Veterans Bounty Killer and Mr. Vegas have turned their ongoing beef into a lyrical one, with each Dancehall artist dishing out diss tracks against the other over the last two weeks.

The two have been feuding since the late 1990s, with Vegas regularly insulting the Warlord on his podcast over the last year or so, and Bounty often taking shady shots at the Heads High singer on Instagram. However, the verbal fisticuffs have now evolved into a full-blown lyrical war as Killer subliminally went after Vegas with a song called Watch Yu Mouth, which was released on January 27.

In the song, Bounty Killer made certain references such as ‘observe when the teacher a teach/when the ting dem a knock up, the road dem block up/every fish body wash up on the beach,’ but did not refer to Vegas by name.

The Warlord warned: “P—y watch yu mouth, watch yu speech/Know your levels, don’t breach/cause mi Glock dem chip up, rifle dem clip up/No weh no too far fi me reach’/Pussy watch yu mouth, watch yu speech.”

But the Seaview native left little doubt who he was talking about when he posted the song to IG and made a reference to ‘b–y patch face,’ a slight at Vegas’ recent cosmetic surgery to remove a keloid from his face. Fans started to tag Mr. Vegas on the post using derogatory remarks.

In his defense, Vegas then threw down the gauntlet to Bounty Killer with a pair of saucy, hard-hitting songs that challenged the Warlord.

The first single, All Out, was released on February 2, where Vegas promises, among other things, to “send yu go join Ms. Ivy,” Bounty Killer’s late mother.

On the hook, he sings menacingly: “gunshot inna bwoy mouth/the whole ah yu teeth dem jump out/through yu throat, yu tongue fall out/inna the war, mi ah go all out”.

One of the hardest lines on All Out is reserved for the second verse, where Vegas facetiously wishes: “God, ah him yu fi tek and send back Merciless…..”

The second single, Run Up, was released on Monday, on the Suubi Di Warrior’s Youtube channel and sees Vegas at his melodic best.

Throughout the song, he taunts Bounty Killer with a fusillade of insults, and even invokes Vybz Kartel‘s name in the war, deejaying: “Vybz Kartel say yu dead and a laugh, can’t believe say him father get so soft”.

He also uses audio clips of selector Foota Hype disrespecting Bounty Killer as an intro, and during the track.

He makes a case that Bounty Killer, despite his histrionics, is no “bad man,” using the Killer’s own words from his support of the Crime Stop campaign.

It is clear that Mr. Vegas’ agenda is to provoke his long-time foe to wrath, and it appears to be working.

Several days ago, Bounty Killer released a song called Drag Queen (Bup Bup Bup), where he growls in signature Killer style: “skull ah open like book book book/no life yu never took took took/him ah fish pon hook hook hook”.

In the track, Bounty Killer also calls Vegas’ sexuality into question and lambasts him for an incident with the infidelity of his babymother: ‘start wid the gal wah f—k pon yu inna house/a man gi it ah hard backas on the couch/ah never Dovey a bawl out, ah yu b—c–t gal de pon camera ah skin out’.

The song was uploaded to Killer’s official YouTube channel today, and interestingly, he has been generating much interest with fan-made remixes of the diss track on Instagram.

Meanwhile, other fans seemed to celebrate Vegas’ effort, with one commenting that, “Vegas song better, Killa with the same intro, Killa need fi change up him style, people tired of that fast, loud and aggressive energy day’.

Another said, “Vegas =1 Killa =0…Killa lyrics weak , sound quality poor”.

One commented, “Hmmm, it’s (Bup Bup Bup) actually better than I expected as I only heard a little bit of the beginning before, but hearing it in its entirety, Mr Vegas tek it still. Mr Vegas has outplayed Bounty on lyrics, melody, potential longevity, etc. Sorry, Bounty Killer fanatics.”

“Vegas is in the lead 2-0 so far.. bounty need his ghostwriters,” another person added.

Bounty Killer’s fans were equally vocal, with one saying: “This song (Bup Bup Bup) is more lyrical and more impactful than you know who’s song. Bounty Killer a lead the war 1 nil . No bias #facts. All wah gwan everyone anticipates what Bounty a faaward with.”

“Bounty ah lead in d war so far… Vegas gotta learn these lyrics ahahhaa,” one said.

One person said, “Now this is war lyrics , not sum guy with ABC rumblings.”

Some fans said they were bored with this ‘geriatric clash’ while others hoped that the war stayed on the lyrical side.

“As far as I see this was what Vegas wanted for a while and he seems to be enjoying this lyrical clash, with him and the Killer, just hoping it stays this n doesn’t get physical,” one commented.

The feud is over two decades old, dating back to the year 2000, when Vegas took lyrical aim at Bounty during his performance of the song ‘Hard’ at STING. Bounty Killer vowed to ‘write off’ the singjay’s career, and so began the ‘Gaygas’ taunts and digs at Vegas’ sexuality.

In 2016, Mr. Vegas told The Breakfast Club that Bounty had tried the same strategy during his feud with Beenie Man, but that it did not affect his career.

“Bounty Killer tried that with me, he tried the same thing with Beenie Man, and Beenie Man is still touring. I am still touring, still making records, and I am still feeding my kids,” he said at the time. “I got seven kids and I am taking care of them. How are you going to make stupid persons make you end up in the same place as Vybz Kartel? If a man calls you gay, what you gonna do, take a gun and go kill that man? You are going to go to prison.”

Vegas and Bounty seemed to bury the hatchet (thankfully not in each other) and arranged a truce until 2018, when Bounty Killer had a field day with a 70s outfit Vegas had worn during a performance on Digicel Rising Stars.

The feud then began anew, but recently, Mr. Vegas has taken it to new lows, parading a birth certificate around and leveling a particularly damaging claim at the Warlord that we will not repeat here.

Bounty Killer, himself, seemed to acknowledge as much as he replied to a fan on Instagram, saying: “you’re absolutely right, but think wide and far he’s on the ending I got so much more to do and offer, can’t make him distract my greatness, he just wants to trade insults typical b-tch style tracing y’all know that if I want to destroy him, it’s not hard.”

Vegas reacted on Instagram by posting: “No retreat, no surrender.”
