Mankind singer Silk Boss has been listed as a person of interest by the St Catherine South Police following the release of a viral video showing the singer being assaulted.

According to a JCF press release, dated September 4, the Dancehall artist, whose real name is Rohan Reid, is being asked to report to the Portmore Criminal Investigations Branch by midday on Monday (September 5).

“Anyone knowing his whereabouts is asked to contact the Portmore Police at 876-989-8422, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station,” the release said.

The St. Catherine South police had indicated last week that they wanted to question Silk Boss over the viral video, which showed the singer cornered against a wall by two masked men, who slapped him repeatedly, as he begged them to stop.

However, in a subsequent interview with OnStage TV host Winford Williams over the weekend, the artist said that he wanted to move on from the incident and wasn’t interested in pursuing “justice”.

“I don’t care.  Mi nuh care.  Mi just deh ya so, ah do me. I don’t care because it coulda happen to anybody,” he told Williams. “Mi nah lose one night sleep fi dem crosses people, Missa Winford. Mi nah business with nuh man.”

In his interview with producer and YouTuber Terro Don, the artist had said the men were armed and had threatened to kill him. Silk Boss also revealed that the men, who he referred to as “friends”, had also robbed him of J$1.4 million, which he had earned while in Canada a few weeks ago and had intended to use as a downpayment for a BMW.

He identified his attackers as the ones he referred to as “Gulfside” in a recent song, and said that the culprits had kept the footage and deliberately leaked it when his music career began rising.

When asked how he would respond if the police contacted him, Silk Boss told Winford Williams that he would cooperate.

“If them contact me, yeah, if them ask me a question, me and them would talk,” he said.  “But at the end of the day, mi nah go to nuh police.”

“Cause a di end of the day, nuff man go to police and still end up dead, sometime ah the same people dem tuh.   Dem a work with the somebody you ah go report to them about.  Mi nuh trust nothing!”

Silk Boss’ latest song, Sorry, addresses the alleged assault.
