Jamaican singer Shenseea was among several inspiring voices to share their vision for ‘Black Future Month’ at a recent Kanye West-led Sunday Service held earlier this month.

Ye had determined that February should be acknowledged as ‘Black Future Month,’ declaring that ‘Black History Month’ was no longer relevant. He took that concept further by enlisting several artists, athletes, and cultural icons to give speeches for that purpose at a Sunday Service brunch on February 6.

Shenseea, who contributed to West’s Donda album, was joined by the likes of media journalist Jason Lee (Hollywood Unlocked) and rappers such as French Montana, Moneybaggyo, and Fivio Foreign, who shared their hopes and vision for the future.

For her speech, the Blessed singer, 25, shared some personal details about her life.

“My name is Shenseea and I come from Kingston, Jamaica. I’ve never met my father and my mom is deceased,” she began before explaining that at 19, she had a kid with no sustainable income.  She revealed that her mom wanted her to be a flight attendant, while her aunt wanted her to be a doctor. While those were more attainable ambitions, she took a chance with hopes of becoming “the next big thing.”

“My son actually gave me life. I blew up in a matter of months, so its like some people might look at me and say I blew up so fast but really, I’ve been preparing for this all my life,” she said.

“[Now] I am on planes almost every day or every other week just like the flight attendant my mother wanted me to be…I can now help to save and change lives just like the doctor my aunt wanted me to be,” the singer stated proudly.

With that said, her message to others for ‘Black Future Month’ was to pursue your goals without the constraints of what society dictates.

“What Black Future Month means to me, is just that I want more of us to know what we want and not conform to the mental rules of society. To be dominant, You got to have the strength and to just know how to lead – I’m an Alpha and this is the future,” she ended.

The Lighter singer shared her BFM speech with her 5 million Instagram followers today with the caption,

“My vision for #BFM? I see more females being ALPHAs!!!!! I can’t wait to tell you about all I’ve been through and all the reasons [why] I go sooo hard 💪🏽 I just got a lil more work to do @kanyewest #BFM 🖤 I miss you mommy thank you for showing me how to work hard and be strong! @dondaofficial.”

Shenseea’s manager Romeich Major was moved by her speech, and he too shared a clip from Ye’ Sunday Service with a lengthy trip down memory lane. He recalled seeing her star quality from “day 1” and how proud he was to see the star she has become today.

“@dondaofficial @shenseea 😭😭😢 All I can say [is that] alot of people won’t know your journey like me, and from day 1 when I was introduce to your talent I became not only your number 1 fan but I became the person that saw the greatness before the world and everyday I see people tell me you remember when u tell me about shenseea 😂😂😂😂.”

“I am super proud of all we have accomplished together as a team and also how much you have accomplished as an individual artist and person. Without even 1 album out you are one of [the] leading TALENT IN CARIBBEAN and now its time for the World to Love and appreciate this girl from Jamaica!”

“I post this here with all memories from day 1 and look forward for the future, we gonna continue making great music, set history and keep them talking 😂😂😂 so watch deh style yah…” Romeich wrote.

Shenseea later replied to thank her manager for the opportunity of a lifetime, she wrote, “Thank you for giving me a chance and believing in me and never leaving my side ❤️ love you.”

In addition to other artists and guests, Ye also shared what Black Future Month meant to him:

Throughout the brunch, renditions of classic Ye tracks were heard, in Sunday Service fashion. Some of these include a gospel iteration of his debut single Through The Wire, which made the rounds on Twitter:
