Reggae singer Queen Ifrica has frowned upon Shenseea’s latest single Lick featuring Megan Thee Stallion, noting that it only further solidifies the fact that the younger generation in Jamaica has gone wayward.

“I think it’s (the song) a further reminder to us, that the future of our young people in this country is much more dire than we thought,” Ifrica told DancehallMag.

The Keep It To Yourself singer, 46, who has always been pretty vocal about her disapproval of certain sexual escapades, added that as a mother she would hate for her own child to be performing oral sex on women.  Ifrica advised the Be Good singjay, 25, to reevaluate the content she produces.

“Woman to woman, I would just say to her (Shenseea) a lot of us as mothers here in this country have lost our daughters to men who think they have the right to do and say anything. And now we have women leading our young men down this dark road—no pun intended,” she said. “I don’t want my son bowing [going down] on nuh gal. Our boys and girls are worth more than that. Come better than that big woman.”

Shenseea, whose real name is Chinsea Lee, had made it pretty clear a day before the track’s release that it was a “suck pu–y song” and followed that up by saying she’s always wanted to make a song that “teaches men how to eat.”

Dancehall artist Macka Diamond believes that those who feign opposition to oral sex are just being judgemental.

“There’s nothing wrong with the ideas expressed in the song [Lick], it’s freedom of speech. When a man wants something he says it so if a woman want something why not? This is the age of female empowerment, if she wants lick, that’s what she wants if you can’t give it move along,” Macka told DancehallMag.

“People need to emerge out of the dark ages, there is nothing illegal about lick or blow anymore most people doing it they just don’t like to admit it,” the Dye Dye singer added.

The official music video for Lick has racked up over 4 million YouTube views since its release five days ago.  Lick would be the second song and video to stream more than 1 million times in a week in Jamaica. The first was Lighter by Tarrus Riley and Shenseea in 2020,” according to World Music Views.

However, the Fyah Mumma was unimpressed with the numbers and said that they were an indication that society gravitates towards lewdness.

“They are now well saturated and desensitized, also very distracted from their reality. It’s very unfortunate that the only gains we could have made in our quest to be seen and appreciated as a country is to (be) displayed in this (way). It’s a sad day for us. Embarrassing even,” Ifrica said.

Lick will appear on Shenseea’s debut album Alpha that’s slated for release on March 11, 2022 via Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records.

Ifrica added that she has been cooking up her own album.  “I hope everyone enjoys when it’s ready,” she said.
