Shab Don Granted Bail, Co-Accused Remanded; Illegal Gun Was Stolen From Atlanta P.D.

Dancehall producer Linval ‘Shabba’ Thompson Jr, also known as Shab Don, was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 when he appeared in the Gun Court today to answer illegal gun and ammunition charges.

His co-accused Romaro Scott was remanded in custody when he appeared alongside Thompson on the illegal gun charges. Scott will next appear in court on December 2.

Sources say that Shab Don is expected to be re-arrested on additional charges this evening by police investigators. DancehallMag will be closely watching these developments later.

Police sources have also confirmed that the Jamaica Constabulary Force, working in conjunction with its international law enforcement partners, have established that the gun had been identified as being the property of the Atlanta Police Department and had been reported stolen in 2018.

The JCF has also conducted ballistics and forensic tests, which are pending to establish whether the firearm had been used in the commission of crimes on Jamaican soil.

Attorney-at-law Tom Tavares-Finson is representing Romaro Scott, while prominent attorney-at-law Donahue Martin is representing Thompson.

The defendants were arrested and charged after an illegal gun was reportedly found in their possession in Old Harbour, St Catherine in October. The gun was reportedly found in a car both were traveling in at the time of their arrest.

Shab Don is known for his hybrid trap-dancehall productions such as Vybz Kartel’s World Government, Bad Mind on the One Don riddim and Any Weather which was the first single to be released on his most renowned riddim, the G6ixx.

Shab Don, who is one-half of the Shab Don Records team alongside Carlos Clarke, also produced Teejay’s Shub Out and Henny and Weed and Squash’s Money Fever.

Among his other productions are Baby Yuh Tight by Popcaan and Nuh Rate Dem by Jahvillani.
