Jamaican singer Dalton Harris has toasted his mother Sylvia Campbell, three years after a very public squabble, and from the looks of it, the mom and son are now firmly back in a good place and stronger than ever.

In an Instagram post on Friday, the X Factor UK 2018 winner shared a photo of Campbell as she struck a pose in her Sunday best.  Dalton described her in the caption as his “Good Clean Skin Mother.”

“No it’s not a birthday or any special day. But I shouldn’t need to,” he added.

The 27-year-old Clarendon native then spoke briefly about their tumultuous journey and their road to recovery and healing.

“Man we have been through so much darkness but we worked on it and prayed and loved our way through,” he said. “Thank God for health and strength. You have been through so much pain in your life that most wouldn’t even believe. But you have your children to teach you what they have learnt after going out into the world and we will carry you with us. Rebuilding slowly.”

Harris then fawned at his mom’s good looks despite her many years of hardship.

“55 years old look good and gyal life never easy. 😍😍. Love you Mom. And so grateful for both of our growth and healing. And you are finneeeee. ❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️🧡🧡🧡. So beautiful. #GoodBodySylvia,” he wrote.

The public rift between the two occurred during Dalton’s stint on the X Factor competition. The Cry singer had detailed a rocky past of ‘childhood trauma, abuse and poverty, which left him homeless at 15 years old,’ but Campbell denied the allegations, and claimed that her son had exaggerated.

Despite the insinuations of abuse and some harsh words both ways at the time, the 54-year-old remained hopeful that the issues between herself and her son would be resolved one day.

In 2020, mom and son began taking steps to renew their broken relationship. They both appeared in an episode of TVJ’s SimSoul Sessions and spoke about coming to the decision of reconciliation. Campbell told the show’s host, Simone Clarke-Cooper that she felt as though a part of her was missing when they weren’t on speaking terms.

“Simone, my dream was fi Dalton and I get together, because it was like something missing from me … we did have this bond,” she said.

Harris revealed that he had spent two weeks in rehab in Phoenix, Arizona in January of that year, which helped him to heal from the childhood trauma that had been haunting him into his adult life. He expressed that the experience was life-altering, to the point where he now feels genuinely happy.

“January, I went to rehab in Phoenix, Arizona, for two weeks. There was a lot of childhood trauma that I needed to heal from. Upon going to rehab, I was speaking to my mom, because in January we started communicating again. I told her, ‘I’m going to rehab and this is what I’m going to speak about and it’s going to be hard and so, be patient with me,’” he said in the interview.

“She was very supportive of it and was like, ‘I understand’. She used my healing to help her heal as well,” he added.

Campbell admitted that her son’s decision to check himself into rehab was a turning point for her as well. “It really hit me when him tell me say him a go a rehab because me a say, ‘den nuh mad people go a rehab?’ But I’m so happy now, we talk every day. Him send me pictures. Anything him cook him send it,” she said.

Dalton has since been on a path of fixing the facets of his life that need it the most.

After rehab, he made the brave move of coming out as pansexual in October 2020 and said it has been the most exhilarating and freeing feeling though he has had to endure discrimination along the way. Then, earlier this year in June, the Jamaican-born singer, who now resides in the UK, revealed his Italian beau for everyone to see on TikTok.
