Popcaan has earned his fifth BRIT Certified silver award.

The Dancehall star received the silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) today (August 6) for Kisses For Breakfast, a 2014 collab with British singer Melissa Steel.  Reggae sensation Koffee was also awarded a silver certification today for her song, Rapture.

According to BPI, which issues certifications for singles and albums in the United Kingdom, Kisses For Breakfast was certified silver, after it sold over 200,000 copies, as measured by The Official Charts Company.

Released through Warner Music Group, the single became a summer anthem when it dropped in 2014. At the time, the song stockpiled rave reviews from magazines like Maximum Pop! that compared the track’s “sugary melodies and sexy innocence” to early Rihanna. Singersroom called the song “a summer banger” with “undeniable catchy flows like a summer breeze” and 4Music said the song’s vibe was a “tropical”, “breakfast treat” with a video that made you “wish-you-were-here.”

Kisses For Breakfast was Steel’s first solo single and she jetted to Jamaica to link up with Popcaan for the video at Hellshire Beach in Portmore, St. Catherine. Talking about what inspired the visuals, Steel said that it was because the song had “a summer, island feel to it.”

The song peaked at No.1 on the UK R&B Chart, at No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart and at No. 15 on the Scottish Singles Chart.

DancehallMag placed the song at No. 6 when we ranked all of ‘Popcaan’s International Collabs: From Worst To Best‘.

Popcaan has had several other international collaborations that have received silver and gold certifications.

The deejay, who is currently visiting the United Kingdom, was seen meeting up with some of his previous British collaborators. Yesterday, he was having drinks and dinner with English singer Jorja Smith who he appeared with on the single Come Over just last October.

Last month, Come Over was certified silver by BPI after it sold over 200,000 copies in the UK, following its release.

In August 2019, Popcaan’s feature on Naughty Boy’s Should’ve Been Me (2016) with Kyla also earned him a silver certification in the UK.

In April 2017, Popcaan received another silver certification for his contribution to I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) by Jamie XX with Young Thug when it sold over 200,000 copies in the UK.  Earlier this year, that song earned Popcaan his first Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), after it sold over 500,000 copies in the United States.

In September 2016, Popcaan earned his first silver certification from BPI for I’m In Control, a collab with London singer AlunaGeorge.
