Dovey Magnum’s new manager, Nigel Angus, has provided some clarification concerning his artist’s recent arrest and detention by U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Bawl Out singer was reportedly taken into custody and detained at the Stewart Detention Center in the US state for an alleged immigration violation. Magnum, whose real name is Simsky Kimberly Harrison, is still currently listed as “in custody” at the facility on ICE’s Online Detainee Locator.

In an Instagram Story post today, Angus said that it was an immigration issue relating to Magnum overstaying in the United States.  The Billboard-charting music publisher also clarified that Magnum was taken into custody while at the airport in Atlanta, with an assistant, and not at a residence or premises as was previously reported.

“I’m here to put all the speculations to rest regarding the @doveymagnum rumors about her being held by immigration,” Angus wrote in the statement.  “It would be foolish of us to deny this; but what we are not going to do is do the add-on ‘speculations'”.

Angus emphasized that the detention was an immigration matter and not a criminal one.  “There is only ONE problem and it’s regarding her overstaying here in the States,” he said. “I have retained an attorney who goes by Mr. Farqueson and has declared this is only an immigration issue, NOT a criminal case.”

The Dancehall artist may have overstayed her VISA or overstayed the length of time she had permission to remain in the United States.  According to the US State Department, the difference between the two “can be confusing.”

Angus then explained that Dovey was held at the airport for questioning before she was transferred to the detention facility.

“I have spoken to her assistant, Ms. Stewart, who was present when everything occurred while at the airport with Dovey with and NO! Government nor Law Enforcement have ever been to Ms. Harrison’s residence because they both were held at the airport for questioning “BEFORE” entering Atlanta.”

“Ms Stewart was the only person allowed to enter,” he added.

Plastic Surgery Rumors

Angus, who had only signed Magnum to his management company last week, also confirmed rumors that Dovey had recently undergone plastic surgery.

“As for Dovey the Barbie Doll makeover, she did recently have her body done; this was all a part of her re-branding and image along with her new developing Album,” he revealed.

“My position recently was to rebrand and organize Dovey on a professional level here for the states we will continue to support her despite her current dilemma,” Angus added.

On the topic of Dovey’s teenaged son, Jay, her manager said that she was eager to see him again.

“I spoke with her son Jay and he is doing ok during the whole tribulation. Despite it all, this is a child without his mother,” he said. “As for right now the artist is looking to get well and eager to see her son ASAP.”

Augus ended the statement with a promise to be transparent about the situation. “Its best to hear it from me than the speculations. I’m looking to make this situation as transparent as possible.”

Dovey, who is best known for the 2019 single Bawl Out, had been billed to headline Purity’s All White weekend bash in Florida this weekend, alongside Dancehall star Dexta Daps.

Other songs from the artist include Location, Female Shella, and most recently Respectfully, True Story and Taxic, which she told DancehallMag in February, was inspired by her current relationship.
