Dovey Magnum Shares New Song ‘Taxic’, Inspired By Her Current Relationship

It is a different type of love that excites Dancehall artist Dovey Magnum, who dropped her single Taxic which she debuted at MBR’s birthday bash in Tampa, Florida earlier this month.

According to Magnum, Taxic tells the story of a hardcore type of love and is based on her current relationship.

While not divulging who she is currently dating, Dovey Magnum explained that romantic love is great but is often not the reality, noting that she believes the love she is singing about is more indicative of people’s lived experience.

“I try to keep it real for the fans, Taxic plays on the word ‘Toxic’ and is all about that hardcore love; rude boy, rude girl love, that some of us have experienced and or desire to experience- it is a fantasy for some,” Magnum told DancehallMag.

“I am the girl that reps for the hardcore vibe, and I bring that fire that men love and women want to tune into to emulate,” she added.

Magnum, whose real name is Simsky Kimberly Hamilton, says she will be releasing a new body of work shortly which will show off her variety as an artist.   She hinted that there will be some social justice tracks, not just hardcore Dancehall.

Born in Spanish Town, Magnum is best known for Bawl Out (2017) and Location (2020).
