Another emerging Dancehall artist, Shokryme, recently pled guilty to illegal gun charges in Jamaica.

The artist, whose real name is Jason Pinnock, pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition on January 15, according to the Jamaica STAR.

Shokryme was arrested on November 25, 2020, after he was found with a Ruger P-10 C in his waistband, by police on patrol along the Hellshire Road in Greater Portmore. The illegal gun contained a magazine with seven rounds of ammo, according to a report from Senior Superintendent of Police Clive Blair.

He will be sentenced later this month at the Gun Court.

A relative of the 28-year-old singer told the STAR that they are hoping for a non-custodial sentence.

The deejay has been recording for over five years since he was introduced to Aidonia by his St George’s College schoolmate Govana. He has released songs such as Gold, Ruff Life, Gun Nuff, and Start It.

Shokryme is the fourth Dancehall artist facing the Courts over possesion of illegal weapons and ammo over the last four months. Rytikal was charged on January 28 after he was allegedly found with a Taurus .380 pistol and twelve rounds of ammo at 8 Miles, Bull Bay.
