Shenseea Unfollows Spice On Instagram After Jada Kingdom Praises The Dancehall Queen’s Mentorship

If you believe that fans hold the power to stir up beef between Dancehall artistes, you’d probably not be surprised that singjay Shenseea has unfollowed the reigning Queen of Dancehall Spice on Instagram.

The Shenyeng boss’ following list was placed under scrutiny today after Spice commended Jada Kingdom for acknowledging her influence on her career.

Kingdom, who performed in Florida last night, publicly acknowledged Spice as a mentor in stage performance, and reaffirmed her title as “Queen of Dancehall”. “Nuff artist nuh wah big up who come before dem & give credit to who dem learn from…mi nave dat inna mi,” Kingdom added.

Spice reshared the videos and text of Jada’s post and said that no female artiste had tagged her prior to Kingdom to state her impact on their career.  “Your appreciation means alot to me. In all my years in this industry I’ve never been tagged by a female artist to say they watched and learned anything from me. You told me even on Club house that you use to sit and watch my performances and look at you now, mashing up every where you go,” Spice wrote.

Jada and Spice’s exchange attracted commendation for the female unity, but also criticism as many fans detected shade thrown towards Shenseea.

Those fans pointed out Shenseea’s past public “big ups” and shows of respect for the So Mi Like It singer.   Shenseea has publicly: praised Spice as “a role model to many” and a mother; recognized Spice as the Queen of Dancehall multiple times; and perhaps most importantly, praised Spice for once giving the then-upcoming singer with “just 2 songs” advice on “how to really attack a beat” which Shenseea said she “would never forget”.

The popular Instagram account TheTropixs produced “receipts” for three such instances over the years.

Just recently, Shenseea was deemed the “Queen of Dancehall-elect” following a viral freestyle.  In a subsequent interview, Shenseea said she had no interest in titles, but did not acknowledge the “Queen” which did not go unnoticed to Spice’s Smurf gang. But the women still followed each other up until today when Shenseea hit the unfollow button and posted in a since-deleted Instagram Story, “The female they say is unproblematic, unno gwaan ramp wid me here.”

Shenseea added in another Story post, “BADMIND cya hide wid make up. #BadAlone #NotInGang.”

While she dropped no names, many will recall spiritual advisor Nardo ‘RT Boss’ Smith claiming that Spice is afraid to show her face makeup-free out of fear that her true persona will be revealed.  This was one of several claims Smith made in December when he accused his former associate of being ungrateful for all the things he’d done to allegedly boost her career, including getting her the Queen of Dancehall crown.

He has also claimed that the Cool It deejay refused to do a collaboration with Shenseea because she was insecure that the newcomer would outshine her.

Spice subsequently denied his claims, and Shenseea remained quiet.  Though the Blessed singer did vent to Instagram fans in December that her fellow female stars did not want to collaborate with her.

Shenseea’s manager, Romeich Major, did, however, face backlash after posting a video of them in the studio sprinkling rum to cleanse the space, a ritual which is often associated with “obeah” of which Spice was accused by RT Boss. Major said he didn’t wish to get involved in the Spice-RT Boss saga, and asked fans to leave Shenseea’s name out of it.

Since then, fans have speculated that Major is playing petty as he recruited ousted Team Spice dancers Pretty Pretty and Dancing Rebel (apparent casualties from RT Boss’ December revelations), for Ding Dong‘s upcoming music video for the song Watch a Style Yah. In a promotional post, Major asked followers to give the names of the “Romeich Entertainment” dancers in the video, suggesting that the dancers are now part of his camp.

Fans Weigh In

“Everybody know seh Spice badmind, a it start all a this,” one user said.

“Oh Shenseea think she bad cuz the likkle rehearse freestyle weh she do wah day ya reach Shaderoom…”

“Spice stop lying Shenseea been tag you over and over and show respect and acknowledge you as queen. But you can gwaan use Jada name as if is she alone because of your own personal vendetta. If you are truly a “queen” act like one. And as a “queen” you can also take female artist that are doing well, caz the throne is for others as well. I see through the shades!!” @dydy_307 wrote.

“Romeich & Shenseea been noh like Spice. A some proving thing dem deh pon.”

“Why Shenseea no unfollow Jada Kingdom to? Just fi show you say a long time she waan unfollow Spice.”

“Come through Shenseea, the Beyonce of dancehall.”

“So she where was the same energy for Jada?”

Up to press time, Spice was still following Shenseea’s account.  Shenseea’s manager, Romeich, has also unfollowed Spice.

Kingdom and Shenseea are still following each other after they publicly ended hostilities over a prior feud.
