Vybz Kartel Stirs The Pot In Drake, Mavado Feud
GAZA emperor Vybz Kartel has taken notice of Drake and Mavado’s recent exchange of diss tracks and took to social media throw, what fans believe, are subliminal jabs at his long-time rival and fellow Dancehall artiste Mavado.
In a series of posts from his verified Instagram, Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, made it clear that he is still playing an active role in the lives of his seven children, despite being incarcerated for most of the last decade. The artiste described how he has been contributing to their lives and showed that they are doing quite well while also promoting one of his latest releases, Sometimes Love Dies.
In the first post, he shared a snippet from Likkle Addi and Likkle Vybz’s late 2019 Magneato Medley, with the caption: “When u invest time & money in your kids. realfather #fullyfocus #warwho? #sometimeslovedies out now.”
Shortly after, he posted a picture of his daughter, Adianna, in a Primary School graduation gown, with both hands full of academic awards, captioned “When you’re a positive father figure in your daughter’s life. regardless a weh u deh . #realfather #fullyfocus #warwho? 🤔 #sometimeslovedies out now.”
In the last post, he shared a photo of his son Shaheim, and said, “When youre a so called gangster but your son is a genius #realfather #fullyfocus #warwho? 😰 #sometimeslovedies out now.”
Though Kartel did not call any names in the posts, fans immediately began speculating that the Gaza boss was taunting and throwing shade at long-time rival Mavado, who is presently engaged in a feud with international rapper Drake. Mavado’s 19-year-old son, Dantay Brooks, has been in jail for two years on murder charges and is awaiting trial.
“Tell dem fe guh bail dem son,” one fan commented on Kartel’s picture of Adianna.
“No war deadman mi g… a who send go call LAZARUS?,” another said.
Palmer further stirred the pot a few hours later, when he posted the controversial clip from Drake’s verse in the Only You Freestyle, which seemed to offend Mavado, asking, “Where is the dis?”
Moments later Palmer struck again, posting a snippet of Drake saying, “Addi me daddy. Free up worldboss.”
Some GAZA fans had called for a cessation of hostilities with the Mavado-led Gullyside, in a show of national unity against the Canadian rapper. Kartel’s posts, however, had other fans laughing in the comments and concluding that Palmer chose to side with Drake and former Gaza member Popcaan in this developing feud.
Meanwhile, according to the caption of the Instagram post that Mavado made yesterday to announce the release of Enemy Line, the Gully Gad believes he was disrespected in Drake’s Only You Freestyle.
“Suh yuh wa be like wi, and try style the thing. Remember this Dancehall a mi play ground, Dancehall is my job,” he said.
“You are not from Dancehall You have no Power in Dancehall n everybody know who introduce you to Dancehall so don’t feel like you can come disrespect Gully take that out you brain n don’t dweet again.”
Drake is yet to respond to Mavado’s diss track, but has about eight days to do so if he observes established Dancehall clash protocol.
