After spending the entire day with his fans on Instagram Live today, Beenie Man ended his final live video with an emotional freestyle asking fans to pray for his mother.

Earlier today, the deejay took his virtual audience on a visit to the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston where his mother is being treated. She appeared frail when shown on the video, and Beenie revealed that she has been battling complications since suffering a stroke in 2019.

Though his day was occupied with a video shoot, studio sessions, and check-ins with other celebrities, his mother’s condition weighed heavily on his mind. Bidding fans good night, he broke out into a six-minute freestyle with the recurring line, “pray fi mi madda”.

“Mi cya bawl nuh more, eye water cya come nuh more
Cya turn nuh more, nuh tears cya drop nuh more
Mi heart cya fall nuh more, mi feelings cya get nuh more
People unno pray fi mi madda, please
Pray fi mi madda.”

He continued as he paced outside the Frenz for Real studio in Tower Hill, Kingston.

“Mi nah plan dis, mi nuh attract dis
And mi a tell unno people respect dis
Please, from mi heart, pray fi madda…
Cya even freestyle, pray fi mi madda
Mi waan talk style, pray fi mi madda
But mi nav nuh style, pray fi mi madda
Mi cya profile, pray for mi madda
Mi cya build no lyrics, pray fi mi madda
People mi love unno, pray fi mi madda…

“Mi nuh know if unno love fi unno papa
but mi know seh mi love my madda
Cause my madda run weh every papa
And know seh we haffi live together
A she grow mi so mi can be proper
So me can love all mi brother
And mi sister, mi cousin, and everybody inna mi family love one another
So everybody please pray fi mi madda…”

It then took a spiritual turn.

“Yo, Jah, pray fi mi madda
All Jesus, pray fi mi madda please
Almighty God pray fi mi madda yo
All di angel dem pray fi mi madda
Satan, mi nuh business if yuh kill how much man or who yuh waan prey pon, but mi a beg yuh, pray fi mi madda…”

The heartfelt toast ended with the deejay saying he wants to build a community centre in his native town, Waterhouse, to be named in honor of his mother. It grew even more emotional when he approached a boy outside the studio, and had him repeat his plea, “pray fi mi madda” at the top of his lungs.

The Street Life deejay thanked his fans for the flood of well-wishes but expressed some frustration as he said his mother has stopped fighting.

“Mi madda nuh waan eat brethren, mi madda nah eat nuh food, she nah talk to nobody, she just a be stubborn brethren,” he said, letting out a heavy sigh.

“At the end of the day mi haffi go deal wid di problem then tomorrow mi wake up again and find other ways fi deal wid it, a just dat mi waan mi fans dem fi know, seh it’s not a problem weh yuh fi have enuh. Mama supposed to love herself and love her pickney dem and know seh she a go live fi dem until the time…but mi madda give up brethren, and mi nuh want her fi do dat. Mi want unno help me brethren. Mi cya deal wid dat.”

Among the celebrities sending wishes of a speedy recovery for his mother were Sanchez, Rohan Marley, Lisa Hanna, and Wayne Wonder.
