Amaya McDonald is a New York based Arts & Culture journalist. She has received awards for photography and multimedia journalism as a student at Stony Brook University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. Amaya is now pursuing a Master’s degree in journalism at the CUNY Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and focusing her work on music journalism and Black culture. Born to native Jamaican parents, Amaya has a passion for celebrating Caribbean culture, music and history, which is underrepresented in the United States.
