‘OnStage’ Host Winford Williams Recovering After Car Accident

Veteran entertainment journalist and television host Winford Williams has been hospitalized and is in stable condition after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Sunday morning.
Williams is currently being treated at Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James. Two other persons, who were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, have minor injuries.
“I’m beyond shaken up about this news…looking at the scene of the accident the outcome could be so much more grim…I’m thankful that my Dad, cousin and coworker are all alive and that Winford is expected to make a full recovery…Keep Winford and the team in your prayers,” Jason Williams, fellow television personality and son of journalist Winford Williams, told DancehallMag.
The accident reportedly happened in Hanover, a few kilometers from a hotel where Williams was reportedly staying. Preliminary information suggests Williams’ vehicle collided with a tour bus. Two other passengers in the vehicle are said to have escaped unharmed.
Winford Williams, a well-known presenter of the Jamaican entertainment programme OnStage, reportedly suffered a broken clavicle during the accident. A clavicle fracture, also known as a broken collarbone, is a bone fracture of the clavicle.
“My dad is expected to make a full recovery, while my co-worker, a make up artiste received a brace for her neck, but my cousin escaped without any major injuries but we will be closely monitoring him,” Williams, who is also an executive producer of Onstage, said.
In a statement shared on Instagram late Sunday, Winford Williams thanked supporters for their concern.
“I would like to sincerely thank all my well-wishers – including fans, friends and supporters – for your outpouring of concern and kind messages following the report of the accident involving myself and members of the OnStage team,” he said.
Winford continued: “While some of the images circulating may appear frightening or even gruesome, thankfully, the actual injuries sustained by those of us in the vehicle were not life-threatening. By God’s grace, the situation is not as severe as some posts have suggested.”
“At the moment, I am at the hospital awaiting further updates regarding my recovery process. I remain hopeful and grateful for the support and prayers. Thank you once again for your continued love and encouragement.”
