Davido has put a price on the Afrobeats tour fans have been dreaming about for years. Half a million dollars a night, if he ever hits the road with Wizkid. And he’s not even sure a song between them would work.

The singer made the comments during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK podcast, where the conversation turned to his long and complicated relationship with Wizkid.

Davido sounded fully confident about the business side of a joint run. A collaborative record, he admitted, is a different story.

“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” Davido said. But if we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out.

That D’banj and 2Baba comparison is a telling one. Both men were towering figures in Nigerian pop long before Afrobeats became a global export, and their pairing carried huge expectations.

Davido’s point seems to be that putting two giants on one track doesn’t guarantee magic, while putting them on one stage almost certainly guarantees ticket sales.

He also revealed that he and Wizkid haven’t recorded together in close to a decade. According to Davido, that gap has nothing to do with the two being unable to work with each other. He put it down to them simply being in different mental spaces.

For anyone who has followed Nigerian music over the past fifteen years, the rivalry needs little introduction.

Davido and Wizkid rose around the same era in Lagos and became the two names most often credited with pushing Afrobeats onto international charts and arena stages.

Their fan bases, though, have spent years arguing online over who sits on top, and that friction has occasionally pulled the artists themselves into public back and forth.

Davido addressed that history directly on the podcast. He said maturity has helped him move past old disagreements and personal differences. “I felt that way at some point, but not anymore, and it takes a great man to admit that,” he added.

That line is likely to land differently depending on which camp you sit in. Davido’s supporters will read it as growth and a genuine olive branch.

Wizkid’s fans, who have heard plenty of claims and counterclaims over the years, may want to hear something from Wizkid before they get excited.

So far there’s no word from Wizkid on the idea, and nothing Davido said suggests any tour is actually in the works.

For now it’s a hypothetical with a very real price tag attached. Promoters across Lagos, London and beyond are probably already doing the math.
