Cardi B says more than 18,000 tickets had been sold for BZR WKND Jamaica. Now, days after she walked away from the show, nobody can buy one at all.

The festival has suspended ticket sales until further notice, piling fresh doubt onto an event that was supposed to bring the Bronx rapper to Kingston’s National Stadium on October 18 and 19. A short notice on the event’s website is the only explanation organisers have offered so far.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that ticket sales have been suspended until further notice,” the notice read.

There was no mention of refunds, no word on a replacement headliner and nothing about what happens to people who already paid.

The silence from organisers stands in sharp contrast to Cardi, who posted a video speaking directly to her Jamaican fans. She apologised and said she made repeated efforts to keep her performance on track before finally deciding to pull out.

She also went after a story that had been building online, namely that weak ticket sales had sunk her appearance. “For the haters, not the Jamaicans, but for the haters talking about little ticket sales, it was never that,” she said, adding that she had heard sales were north of 18,000.

What actually happened behind the scenes is still locked away. Cardi said contracts prevent her from sharing details, though she was clear about where she believes the blame does not sit.

“However, ooh, I can’t talk. I can’t talk due to contracts. But just know, it wasn’t me,” she said.

That last line is going to carry a lot of weight in the coming days. If it wasn’t Cardi, and if ticket sales were healthy, fans are left wondering what broke down between the artist and the people putting on the show.

There are two ways to read the situation right now. One is Cardi’s version, where a star who wanted to perform was blocked by issues she can’t name.

The other belongs to the organisers, who haven’t offered a version at all, and that gap leaves room for speculation from every direction.

For ticket holders, the practical questions matter more than the blame game. People who bought passes for a two day festival at one of the island’s biggest venues still don’t know if their money is coming back, or if there will even be a festival to attend.

Losing a headliner of Cardi’s size would rattle any event. Since breaking through with “Bodak Yellow” in 2017, she has become one of the most recognisable names in rap, and her name sat right at the top of the BZR WKND bill.

Organisers have not confirmed what the suspension means for the festival’s future or what arrangements will be made for those holding tickets. With the October dates creeping closer, every day without an update makes the wait feel longer for fans in Kingston and beyond.
