The most unsettling moment of Day 6 in Lil Durk’s federal murder-for-hire trial might not have been the gunfire testimony. It was OTF Jam looking across the courtroom at Durk and quietly admitting, “I still have love for him, I just don’t have no respect for him.”
Kacey “OTF Jam” Hester spent the day walking jurors through the August 2022 pursuit that ended with Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson dead outside a Los Angeles gas station beside the Beverly Center.
Robinson was Quando Rondo’s cousin, and OTF Jam was one of the people allegedly involved in tracking Rondo’s black Escalade through the city that day.
Three vehicles followed Rondo through stops at a dispensary and a Beverly Hills clothing store before the group reached the gas station. OTF Jam told the court he barely knew Los Angeles, at one point testifying,
“I didn’t know what the Beverly Center was until my attorney told me,” and repeatedly flagging that he could not identify every street or neighborhood along the route.
What he did describe clearly was a plan that started to feel wrong to him before anyone pulled a trigger. He said the shifting nature of the mission made him uneasy enough to reach out to DeAndre “DeDe” Wilson, someone he described as close to Durk, hoping DeDe could call the whole thing off before it escalated.
That call did not stop what came next. David “Browneyez” Lindsey jumped out of a stolen white Infiniti, which OTF Jam referred to as the “hot car,” and opened fire much sooner than OTF Jam said he expected.
OTF Jam testified he was still trying to close the distance when Browneyez started shooting, leaving him caught off guard by the timing.
After the shooting, the group ditched the Infiniti and moved into a black Escalade, eventually stopping at an In-N-Out restaurant. OTF Jam said he could not remember getting into the SUV, and that spotting a police officer inside the restaurant made him nervous during the food stop.
Taylor Parise, reporting from inside the courtroom for Los Angeles Magazine, noted that Durk and OTF Jam appeared to glance toward each other shortly before the morning session got underway.
Durk’s defense team then asked for a monitor adjustment so they could get a clearer look at OTF Jam’s face from the defense table, a small but telling detail about how closely both sides are watching each other through this testimony.
The relationship between Durk and OTF Jam sits at the center of how this testimony lands with the jury. OTF Jam acknowledged before the lunch break that his cooperation might be hard to square with any loyalty he once had, but framed it as a distinction between love and respect, two things he no longer treats as the same. His testimony was set to continue after the break.
