Federal prosecutors are planning to introduce a podcast interview between Wack 100 and 6ix9ine as evidence in Lil Durk’s ongoing murder-for-hire trial, according to information that emerged from a recent court hearing. The development has drawn significant attention, with courtroom observers noting that Durk’s defense team actively fought to keep the footage out.

The interview is not being used because either Wack 100 or 6ix9ine is cooperating with the government against Durk. Rather, prosecutors are presenting the clip as evidence of motive. According to accounts from outside the courthouse, a co-conspirator who is cooperating with the government told investigators that Durk saw the interview and it provoked him into action, specifically around the push to retaliate following the death of rapper King Von.

They’re saying the motive is, look, this post got him to get hyped up to do it,” one observer explained. The co-conspirator reportedly told investigators that after watching the interview, Durk said they needed to go after their targets.

The interview alone may not be enough to secure a conviction, and those following the case closely have acknowledged as much. That wouldn’t be stand alone be enough like the hearsay,” one source noted, but added that prosecutors are pairing it with other pieces of evidence, including text messages recovered from a burner phone allegedly used by Durk and his associates at the time.

The burner phone evidence was also contested by the defense, but the judge allowed it to remain in the case. Some of those messages reportedly show Durk commenting that rivals were moving around too comfortably, suggesting awareness of their whereabouts. Prosecutors appear to be building a picture where the podcast clip, the texts, and the co-conspirator’s testimony all reinforce one another.

“They got the burner phone, and they were trying to get it excluded from evidence, but the judge allowed it,” one observer said, adding that the overall picture is not favorable for the defense.

The strategy reflects a broader reality about how these cases are argued. As one person following the proceedings put it, the goal is not simply to present facts but to construct a coherent and convincing narrative for the jury. “It’s not who’s telling the right story,” he said. “It’s who’s the most convincing to the jury.”

Durk’s legal team has reportedly made strong arguments of their own. One account from the hearing described his attorney delivering a compelling speech that appeared to shift the atmosphere in the courtroom somewhat, though observers were careful to note that the weight of the evidence still presents a serious challenge.

The case continues to develop, with each hearing producing new details about the scope of the government’s evidence and the defense’s strategy to counter it.
