Konshens could have been on a plane home by now. In a candid Instagram post, the dancehall star said he’s already been paid, showed up on time and has no contractual reason to stay in Australia after a show there fell apart. He’s sticking around anyway.

“Please understand that contractually i have NO reason to still be in Australia,” he wrote. “I fulfilled my obligations fully by being present on time and ready to perform and was compensated BEFORE i came here.”

The post doesn’t name who’s responsible or spell out exactly what went wrong behind the scenes. What it does make plain is that Konshens wants it on record that the collapse wasn’t on him. He wrote that it’s “absolutely not my fault.”

He also laid out the easy exit he chose not to take. “I could have went home, had my team release a statement and moved on with my life,” he wrote, adding that he has “absolutely nothing to gain monetarily” by staying.

His reason for staying is the fans, and he got specific about which ones. Konshens said he has “a deep love affair” with his African supporters, “particularly my African fans and even more so my East African fans.” That audience was clearly behind what he described as a show that was going to be “BIG.

That’s where the disappointment lands hardest. Konshens said it hurts to read DMs and comments from people who’ve wanted to see him “for YEARS” and still haven’t been able to.

Worse, he noted, are the fans who don’t even live in the affected cities and flew in, “only to see dates changed last minute.” For them, a goodwill gesture from the artist doesn’t refund a plane ticket or the time taken off, and Konshens seems to know it.

He doesn’t pretend otherwise. “I know everyone wont end up happy,” he admitted. He framed his extended stay as an attempt to salvage “a great experience for at least some of you” rather than a full fix.

It’s easy to see the post landing two ways. For some, an artist who’s already been paid choosing to stay and keep performing goes well past what’s owed.

For fans who already lost money on travel, the heavy emphasis on who isn’t to blame may offer limited comfort, however sincere it is.

Konshens is a Jamaican artist whose catalogue, from “Gal a Bubble” to “Bruk Off Yuh Back,” has traveled far beyond the island.

That reach is exactly why fans in Australia were willing to cross cities to see him. It’s also why a scrambled run like this one stings for everyone involved.

What comes next is still shifting. Konshens confirmed he’ll be in Perth next week. He admitted “these damn dates are all scrambled,” but promised he’s “not leaving til i touch every city with Dancehall Love.”
