Just days after getting into a prison fight, Diddy’s release date has been quietly moved up again, this time to February 5, 2028, according to TMZ.
That’s two weeks earlier than the previous date of February 20, which was itself already a revision from several earlier dates.
The timeline of adjustments has been pretty relentless. The original release date was set for May 8, then pushed to June 4, then pulled back to April 25, then to February 23, and now February 5.
Each shift has come with little fanfare from prison officials, even as the public has been paying close attention.
What makes this latest update stand out is the timing. Just a week before the date change, TMZ reported that Diddy got into a physical altercation with another inmate who allegedly “dissed” him, leading to a scuffle where the two “started pushing each other and throwing jabs.” The 56-year-old reportedly held his own before staff broke it up.
As a result of the fight, Diddy was placed in solitary confinement, also known as the Special Housing Unit, or SHU.
While there, his conditions are stripped back to basics: blankets, a mattress, a pillow, toilet paper, and shaving equipment, with potentially just one visitor allowed per week.
The fact that his release date moved forward despite that infraction is what has a lot of people frustrated online.
Social media reaction has been largely negative, with many users expressing disbelief that a prison fight did not result in a longer stay rather than a continued early release trajectory.
The likely explanation, at least according to Bureau of Prisons policy, is that early releases are typically tied to good conduct time and credits earned through approved programming.
Diddy is currently enrolled in Fort Dix’s Residential Drug Abuse Program, known as RDAP, and FOX LA reports that participation in that program is probably a key driver behind the repeated date changes.
Diddy is serving a 50-month sentence after being found guilty on prostitution charges.
He avoided convictions on the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking, which carried significantly heavier potential prison time. That outcome alone stirred considerable public debate when the verdict came in.
He is being held at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, and up until the fight, he had largely stayed out of trouble and out of the spotlight inside the facility.
The few candid shots that surfaced of him at Fort Dix showed someone keeping a low profile, which made the fight news feel like a shift in that pattern.
Whether the SHU stint affects any future programming credits or changes the release date trajectory again remains to be seen.
The Bureau of Prisons website has already been updated multiple times, and there is no indication the adjustments are finished.
