Twelve songs from a single album hitting the same chart in the same week is the kind of stat that makes you do a double-take. Davido just pulled it off with his new project Oriadé, flooding the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart dated August 15 and pushing his career total to 56 entries since the list launched in April 2022.
Leading the charge is “B4 B4,” a three-way collab with Mayorkun and FOLA that debuted at No. 6 on the strength of 626,000 official streams in the United States during the July 31 to August 6 tracking week, per Luminate. That debut hands Davido his 12th top 10 on the chart, a number that now sits alongside some serious company in his own back catalogue.
That back catalogue stretches all the way to “Stand Strong” with the Sunday Service Choir, which peaked at No. 9 back in May 2022 when the chart was barely a month old. Since then he has placed top 10 records with YG Marley, Chris Brown, Victoria Monet, Omah Lay, and ODUMODUBLVCK, covering a lot of sonic ground along the way.
For Mayorkun, “B4 B4” is a milestone in its own right. It marks his first top 10 across four appearances on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, which is the kind of breakthrough that tends to shift how an artist is perceived in the American market. FOLA, on the other hand, is a regular at this point, adding an eighth top 10 to a ledger that now sits at 25 total chart entries.
Oriadé dropped on July 31 through Davido’s own imprint and RCA Records, and it registered 5,000 equivalent album units in its first tracking week. That was enough to land it at No. 8 on the World Albums chart, giving Davido his sixth consecutive top 10 on that ranking. He first appeared there with the EP Son of Mercy back in 2016, and every project since has charted in the top 10, including Timeless and 5ive both peaking at No. 2.
The spread of songs across the Afrobeats chart tells its own story about the album’s range. “Tell Everybody” featuring Leon Thomas came in at No. 11, while “Amazing Grace” with Black Sherif landed at No. 17 and “Yaya” featuring French-Malian pop star Aya Nakamura slotted in at No. 24. The guest list alone reads like a deliberate effort to pull in listeners from multiple directions at once.
Not every track is a fresh debut either. “I Know Who I Be” with JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay had already peaked at No. 6 before this week and is climbing again, moving from 14 to 13. “Gimme Dat Ting” with NO11, a No. 7 hit, slipped slightly from 17 to 18 but is still very much in the conversation.
Twelve songs on one chart from one album is a flex, but the more interesting question is how long they stick around. Afrobeats audiences in the US have shown they stream deep into albums rather than just chasing singles, and Oriadé seems to be testing exactly how deep that goes.
