MTV VMAs 2023: Shenseea Nails Presentation, Cardi B And Offset Turn Up To Teejay’s ‘Drift’

Shenseea

Jamaican star Shenseea was in her presenter hat at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey.

The 26-year-old Blessed singer, who donned a brown rhinestone-covered Marc Jacobs dress and complementary silver jewelry, had the honor of welcoming Mexican singer/songwriter Peso Pluma to the stage.

It’s safe to say that she definitely passed the teleprompter test with how seamlessly she executed her role.

“Here tonight all the way from Guadalajara, Mexico, this young artist has become one of the most exciting new Latin acts of the year. With his unique blend of musical genres including Regional Mexican, Reggaeton, Hip Hop and more, he is paving the way for the next generation of artists,” she said in an authentic Jamaican accent, adding that the Latin singer was making his VMA début.

“I didn’t twang last night, hope y’all proud!” she noted in an Instagram post.

Of course, this wasn’t ShenYeng’s first rodeo at the VMAs. Last year, she was nominated for Push Performance Of The Year; for a performance of R U That on the MTV Push platform. The award, however, went to South Korean boy band, Seventeen.

Earlier last evening, Shenseea graced the pink carpet in a Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. The singer wore a red mesh bodysuit, bra with #DGLogo, satin lace-up skirt, and a #DGFW23 faux fur coat, mesh gloves, micro #DGSicilyBag and heels, per the brand’s social media.

Meanwhile, rapper couple Cardi B and Offset were having their own ‘party’ at the Awards. Cardi posted a video of her husband dry-humping her before she broke out singing Drift by TeeJay.

The two are undoubtedly cultured and have shown love to Jamaican musicians over and over. The pair were even in Jamaica last December for Offset’s 31st birthday.

Drift was one of the most successful tracks of the summer, leading to TeeJay’s publishing and record deals with Warner Music Group and Warner Records.

Cardi B balanced her time well last night, because she and Megan Thee Stallion also graced the stage to perform their new tack Bongos.
