Shenseea, Skillibeng Rep Jamaica At Hot 97’s Summer Jam
Shenseea and Skillibeng represented for Jamaica at Hot 97 Summer Jam in New Jersey on Sunday (June 12).
Shenseea, dressed in a gold thong leotard, black fishnet body suit stockings, and gold calf-high boots, entered center stage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam Festival held at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey over the weekend.
The 25-year-old beauty interacted with the early audience and opened her set with Blessed. Though her performance wasn’t long, she made sure to let her audience know that she is from Jamaica. Before exiting, she performed Lick and a dancehall favorite, Rebel.
This is her second time performing at Summer Jam.
Skillibeng made his Summer Jam debut by way of the self-styled King of New York rapper Fivio Foreign to the pleasant surprise of many. While Skilli was not billed to perform like Shenseea, he delivered an energetic rendition of his Whap Whap remix with Foreign. The song also features rapper French Montana.
Clips of both the performances by the Jamaican artists were posted to Hot 97’s Instagram page to the proud delight of many Jamaicans.
A clip of Shenseea was also reshared on The Shade Room, where several fans commented on her adjusting her outfit while on stage. Shenseea responded in an Instagram story: “I was making sure my va-ja-ja wasn’t all up in the camera’s face,” she wrote.
The singer, who released her debut album Alpha earlier this year, is already working on her second studio project. She was recently spotted in the studio with Diddy and producers Stargate.
Since landing in the United States for his first performance a few weeks ago, Skillibeng has left his mark in Miami, New York, Hartford, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He is scheduled to perform later this month in Washington and Atlantic City in New Jersey on July 17, for a show at Atlantic City Beach.
Skilli, who signed to RCA Records last year, will reportedly release his sophomore album sometime this summer.
