Skillibeng gave another ‘whapping’ performance, this time at the Echoplex theatre in Echo Park, Los Angeles last night and was back in the lab today with LA-based hitmaker Dijon ‘Mustard’ McFarlane.

The Jamaican star revealed on Instagram today that he’s been spending some studio time with the three-time Grammy award-winning Hip-Hop and R&B hitmaker, who is credited for coining the “ratchet” sound and has produced mega-hits for a slew of stars including Rihanna on Needed Me (7x Platinum), Big Sean on I Don’t F-ck With You (7x Platinum), Roddy Rich on Ballin (6x Platinum) and High Fashion (4x Platinum), and Ella Mai on Boo’d Up (5X Platinum) and Trip (3x Platinum).

Mustard’s effort behind Mai’s Grammy award-winning Boo’d Up was the first time he experimented with R&B. The producer has said he’s grown a lot musically and is evolving into new genres. “Now is the time when I’m actually evolving and people are seeing me grow and doing other types of music,” he told the Recording Academy.

Mustard, who was born in LA to Jamaican parents, told The Fader magazine in 2013 that his father was deported to Jamaica when he was young, but that they do still keep in touch.

Expectations are high to see what both Mustard and DJ Khaled strum up with Mr. Universe.

In the meantime, Skillibeng has so far been touring across several venues in the US, wrapping up a show in Hartford, Connecticut last Saturday and also in Miami the week prior.

Last night’s performance in LA turned out to be a star-studded affair with several notable celebs turning out to witness the Dancehall ‘Fresh Prince’ on stage. Spotted raving among the crowd were rappers Bobby Shmurda and Tory Lanez, and Nigerian singer Wizkid, who all met up with Skilli backstage.

Skillibeng kicked off the show performing his highly infectious Whap Whap, which sent the crowd in an excited frenzy.  He also performed other fan favorites such as Crocodile Teeth, Coke, Not, Brik Pon Brik to name a few.

The Badman deejay premiered an official remix for Whap Whap earlier this week (June 7), which saw features with French Montana and Fivio Foreign in the Shomi Patwary-directed music video.

Skillibeng will be heading to San Francisco this Friday June 10; from there he’ll perform in New York, Washington, Brooklyn and Atlantic City in New Jersey to conclude his first-ever US tour.

Rolling Loud has also hinted they might just include Skillibeng in their lineup for an upcoming event. The next staging will be in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium during the week of July 22 to the 24.
