Nicki Minaj has always been upfront about her love for Trap Dancehall. The rapper’s latest endorsement of the new sound coming out of Jamaica involves a 27-second clip of herself lip-syncing to Skeng’s Street Cred, as well as following the fast-rising entertainer on social media.

Posted to her official Instagram account, the Queen of Rap can be seen with a bunny filter over her face, in the spirit of Easter, mouthing a portion of the song word for word.

Her Sunday night post was captioned, “Gvnman- dat sweet me 🍬

Since his big break on the musical scene, Skeng’s career has been on an upward trajectory. Street Cred has reaped almost 11 million views on YouTube since its July 2021 release.

The DiTruth Records production was followed by a slew of hits like Gvnman Shift, Protocol with Tommy Lee Sparta, and Heaven Passport with Intence and most recently Talibhan, a Stalk Ashley collaboration.

On Monday morning, the deejay reposted Minaj’s clip to his Instagram story. The video racked up close to 2 million views just 12 hours after it was posted, with ecstatic fans dropping comments.

“Ayyee yuh know di lyrics dem mon 😭😩🇯🇲” said one user.

“@skeng.don gone ya now!” another joined in.

One more Jamaican supported said, “1 ting ya guh represent fi JA 🇯🇲

It was just last September that Nicki Minaj revealed that she would collaborate with Dancehall deejay Intence.

Minaj, who has previously collaborated with Dancehall artists Mavado, Stylo G, Vybz Kartel, and Skillibeng on the Crocodile Teeth (remix), was speaking to 30,000 of her fans during a Twitter Space hosted by popular ‘stan’ account @HardWhite in September 2021, where she answered questions about her career and an upcoming album.

She noted then that Intence was among the Dancehall talents that she recently followed on Instagram after listening to his music. “He (Intence) was like yo ‘we gotta do sumn we gotta work together’ and I was like ‘yea for real’,” Nicki revealed during the discussion, that was dubbed “Barbie Talk”.

In addition to Intence, Minaj had also followed the former Team Spice dance trio – TC, Prettii Prettii and Dancing Rebel, and recording artists Pamputtae, Macka Diamond, and Queenie.
