Sean Paul‘s 2005 Billboard-topping hit Temperature and Swedish singer Robyn’s remake of Mad Cobra’s 2001 hit, Press Trigger—fittingly titled Cobrastyle—have been featured in episode two of The Dropout, a Hulu series about Elizabeth Holmes, an American former biotechnology entrepreneur, who was convicted of criminal fraud.

Rohan ‘Jah Snowcone’ Fuller, who produced Temperature on the Applause riddim, was beaming with pride about the song’s inclusion in the series.

“When you put in the prayer and you put in the work, then it must work. Mi just a give thanks, this song ah carry me through so mi just a give God thanks,” Fuller told DancehallMag.

The eight-episode miniseries delves deeper into the saga of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes, who was convicted in January 2022 of misleading investors into believing her blood-testing start-up had created a revolutionary medical device. Episode two focuses on billionaire Elizabeth Holmes’ struggles of transitioning into a leader and the hardship of turning her vision into a reality.

Released as the second US single on Paul’s third studio album The Trinity, Temperature topped the Billboard Hot 100. Even though it only spent one week at No. 1, Temperature showed extreme longevity on the chart, spending 17 weeks in the top 10.  The 3X Platinum track has become Sean Paul’s biggest solo single in the United States—having sold over 3 million units.

Temperature has also been featured in two reality TV series Love Island and Love Season, as well as in the Eddie Murphy movie Norbit, and the series Girls.

Meanwhile, Mad Cobra’s Press Trigger, originally released in 2001 on the Buzz riddim, was covered by Swedish band Teddybears, led by Robyn in Cobrastyle (2004) featuring Mad Cobra.

Robyn then covered Cobrastyle, on her own, for her 2006 The Rakamonie EP.  Her cover was included on the international edition of her self-titled album Robyn

Missy Elliott’s We Run This, Suhana Machete‘s Jingle & Jiggle, Dom‘s Living In America were also featured in the episode, according to Nylon.

Recently, Popcaan’s 2018 hit single Firm and Strong was featured in Starz series Power Book IV: Force. Before that, Sister Nancy’s 1982 single Bam Bam surged to No. 1 on Reggae song charts after it was featured in an episode of Netflix’s popular crime drama, Ozark.
