The year 2021 came with a lot of hardships for many but as we come to a close this Christmas season, Dancehall entertainers have come out in their numbers to give back to their communities and share some holiday cheer in these dire times.

Romeich Major

It’s no secret Shenseea’s manager Romeich Major is one of the loudest philanthropists in the entertainment space. The music entrepreneur has been a devoted humanitarian over the years, doing what its takes and with no apology to get his fellow industry colleagues and other local organizations on board to support his many charities.

For the Christmas season, Romeich Entertainment created dozens of care packages for those in need thanks to the help of Magnum Tonic Wine, Grace Foods, Catherine’s Peak Water Ja., Pickney Pampering Hair Salon and several other supporters.

Ding Dong

Dancehall star Ding Dong also joined in on giving back this Christmas. As a Grace Foods ambassador, the deejay headed out to his hometown, Nannyville Gardens in Kingston city earlier this month to surprise those who have been instrumental in the community with a few special gifts.

This week, in a partnership with Romeich Entertainment, Ding Dong showed off several wheelchairs and copious amounts of food items that would create care packages for members of his community. He expressed his appreciation to Grace Foods, Usain Bolt, Magnum, Windsor Medical Centre, and JWN – ‘We Care’ for their donations.

DJ LavaSound

Also in a teaming with Romeich Entertainment and Ding Dong, popular disc jockey DJ Lava has stepped up in a big way to contribute to the Christmas charity run. Through his YouTube series Chat And Laugh – Lava, who is based overseas, has raised cash donations to aid in care packages for families back in Jamaica.

Shenseea

Dancehall starlet Shenseea is back in Jamaica for the holidays, and one of her first stops was at the SOS Children’s Village Jamaica where she contributed headphones to assist with online schooling. Sometime this month, she will be setting up shop at a location in Waltham Park, Kingston to sell some of her big ticket items, including clothing, bags and shoes for a very “cheap” and discounted price – adding that there might be pieces of furniture on sale as well.

Bounty Killer

No one does it bigger and better than the Poor People Governor himself. Bounty’s philanthropy efforts span several years through his charity – The Bounty Foundation. This Christmas, Bounty was early out of the starting blocks donating gifts to the kids in Seaview Gardens, and Mascow Waterhouse. Together with Digicel Foundation, Sharon Burke’s Solid Agency and others, Bounty was live and in-person issuing out toys and treats. “Creating smiles make a kid smile for this Christmas that’s the initiative👈🏿 Seaview/Gardens the root of matter,” he wrote on an Instagram share on Monday.

Also earlier this month, Bounty’s foundation donated JA $400k to Dancehall veteran Tiger to assist with hospital expenses and his recovery after suffering from a stroke.

Tami Chin And Wayne Marshall

The Mitchells were certainly out and about this season, first sharing their journey with Grace Foods to the Rose Hall district in Linstead where they surprised a community elder “Dada’ with a well-deserved gift for all that she has done for others.

Next it was to The Step Centre – a school for therapy, education and parenting of children with multiple disabilities, where Tami Chin, Wayne Marshall and a few other missionaries donated supplies to aid with the well-being of the kids. “We were invited by @ToyotaJamaicaLtd to visit The Step Centre for a handover of some very needed children’s wheel chairs and one very special skateboard,” Tami wrote on an IG share of the fulfilling experience.

D’Angel

Dancehall artist D’Angel hopped on a flight back to Jamaica this week to kick her charity Angel’s Foundation Jamaica in high gear. The singer headed to the Spanish Town Municipal Park on Thursday (December 23) to “Tis the Season to Spread a Little Love❤ And give back.” She took her IG viewers along for the ride prior as she scooped up donations from Cals Food and Honey Bun Ja. for the event she revealed would have been catered to over 70 people.

Spice

The Queen of Dancehall, Spice continues to wave her philanthropic magic wand to bring cheer to people’s lives this Christmas. On Thursday’s episode of Spice It Up on Magnum TV, the QOD handed over $1.25 million dollars to five hand-selected women – Chin Powa, Lugo Lugo, TerryAnn, Marie and Swat Twinz – for their contributions to Dancehall culture. The generous gesture was made courtesy of Magnum and her charity, The Grace Hamilton Woman Empowerment Foundation.

Jahmiel

Patriotz boss Jahmiel came through this Christmas to giveback to persons who need it the most. The Dancehall singer stocked several cars with care packages ‘all courtesy of himself’ to spread some holiday cheer.

“Know how it feel fi need help and nu have that… so we come through for the people and try fi make as much people smile for this season,” Jahmiel said as he showed off car-loads of treats.

Jesse Royal

Another Digicel brand ambassador, Jesse Royal delivered a special treat this week to the children of the Swallowfield community in St Andrew – his former stomping ground. Jesse commented, “We are in unprecedented times and I believe that now more than ever the strong must extend help, so we try to do as much as possible with the resources on hand.” He added, “Since childhood, my mother stressed that this season should be dedicated to giving, not receiving…”

Usain Bolt

Sprinter-turn-music mogul, Usain Bolt is no stranger to giving back. This season he has once again partnered with Digicel Jamaica for their annual Christmas charity run. The Olympic world record holder headed to his hometown of Sherwood, Trelawny with his A-team in a van loaded with gifts to brighten up the holidays for some lucky members of the community. Bolt was also instrumental in donating to other charities this year through his Usain Bolt Foundation.

“Always a joy to go back to my community Sherwood & give back. Thanks @digiceljamaica and all my sponsors for always supporting my yearly Christmas treat🎄🪁🎁🥳 #CY 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿”
