‘Top Prize’ Still Giving: Watch Alkaline’s New Visuals For ‘Maniac’

The Vendetta Boss is still giving gifts from his Billboard-charting sophomore album, Top Prize, with today’s release of the music video for Maniac.

The almost three-minute visuals, directed by KingPride productions, shows Alkaline for the most part in a stand-alone performance. The 27-year-old singer looked quite ready to take a hostage or better yet to carry out the dead, decked in a black oversized pullover paired with a matching black cargo-style pants, with red-bottomed undertaker boots and a black kerchief hanging over his entire face with red circles as eyes.

Yup, he’s a maniac…

Amidst the smokescreen, the deejay appears dropping the bars, “Contract a weh yuh spend money / Him dawg a call him madda seh him dead mommy (pray fi wi) / Fly dem duppy anytime, anytime.”

Complementing the set are several girls in all-black, revealing two pieces seducing themselves and one another with money and unexpectedly, a snake.  From reels capturing a seamless abduction into a red Mustang as according to his lyrics and a mini-performance put on by a stilt walker, the Maniac visuals highlight the Champion Boy’s chill yet cryptic personality.

In July, Maurice Linton of Armz House Records, showed off his Billboard plaque for his production contribution on Maniac, deemed one of the standout tracks of the Top Prize album. Commemorating Top Prize’s debut at the No. 2 position on the Billboard Reggae Album chart during the week of May 29, 2021, Linton shared this feat on social media.

“As a creator of sound, it’s empowering to be able to live through moments such as this,” Linton wrote.  “Having the opportunity to witness the growth of this body of work is beyond measure. Nothing is sure, however, one things’ for certain, good music, by the very definition of the word, will always be rewarded.”

It is only fitting that Maniac is further crowned with complementary visuals.  Press play above.
