Bounty Killer and Beenie Man’s hugely-anticipated performance at the Sunclash meets Shutdown show which had been scheduled for Ibiza, Spain from October 1 to 4 2021, has been postponed.

The organizers made the announcement several days ago and noted on their Instagram page that the event has been pushed back to May next year, due to COVID-19 concerns and travel restrictions amid rising infection rates in Spain.

“We have been monitoring the recent travel regulations and announcements with the hope that things would lighten up nearer to the time of the event,” they noted.  “Unfortunately, nightclubs in Ibiza are still not permitted to open past 1am and are also still on the UK’s government’s amber list which would mean a 10-day quarantine on return to the UK for unvaccinated travelers.”

“We feel there are too many obstacles against both us and you the customer to make this the most enjoyable weekender possible and making it the legendary event it’s set to be. We want you to have the best possible experience and this cannot be done with the majority of venues, shops, restaurants etc in Ibiza only opening for restricted hours,” they added.

Nevertheless, the event organizers said that both Bounty and Beenie have confirmed their attendance for the rescheduled event which will run from Friday, May 6 to Monday, May 9, 2022.

“The headline artists Beenie Man and Bounty Killer are both 100% confirmed for the new date. Nothing will stop us from making sure the first time these two legendary artists grace a European stage together they will do it in front of the Sunclash meets Shutdown audience,” they wrote.

“By this time the vaccine roll out in Spain will be further along, businesses will be able to resume normal operating hours and Ibiza to be placed on the UK green list,” they added, while noting that all existing packages, tickets and bookings will be valid and automatically transferred over to the new date.

On August 3, the organizers had noted that there were concerns being raised by many patrons about changes in travel regulations, particularly “the recent announcement of Ibiza going back on the UK’s amber list”.

Bounty Killer had first announced his and Beenie’s participation on his Instagram page in March.

Back then, in what many of his fans saw as an uncharacteristic move, the Warlord categorically told his fans who planned to attend, to take the COVID-19 vaccine, this in stark contrast to the anti-vaccine sentiments of his compatriots Sizzla, Buju Banton, Spragga Benz, Tony Rebel, Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid and others.

“Gwaan tek unuh vaccine keep the date lock een and stay up like caffeine,” Bounty had captioned a post advertising the event, on his IG page.

While many of his fans had cheered and posted fire icons, there were many who took him to task for his seeming variance in favor of the “system”. At the outset of the pandemic in 2020, he had avoided wearing masks in public, and later relented.   However, Bounty Killer stood his ground regarding the vaccine, even choosing to argue with, and dismiss some of his opponents.

A few days later, his compatriot Spragga Benz appeared to take aim at the Warlord for his pro-vaccination pronouncements.

“Mi see some BIG BAD Jamaican artist promoting di vaxi agenda already… either dem get a promise or dem really dunce to the program,” Spragga had written on IG.

The last time Beenie and Bounty performed together was during the Dream Weekend Yush event during “Emancipendence Week” in Negril.

They had been booked for the Ibiza show in the aftermath of the VERZUS show last year, which was streamed globally and which has been hailed as the most outstanding of the series to date.
